M107 SPA: Long Range And Great Power - This Is The King Of Battlefield
The M107 175 mm self-propelled gun was used by the U.S. Army from the early 1960s through to the late 1970s. It was part of a family of self-propelled artillery that also included the M110.

OK John,
Between you and Karl I might get a concise answer.
How do they decide how to call a tank from a self propelled artillery from a tank killer and all the other vehicles with tracks and cannon that are sent out to destroy things?
I can tell "Big Cannon from Little Cannon", but a tank? Thick armor? Why is this monster killer you present not just "Big Tank with Big Cannon"
A "Tank Killer" is an obsolete term? It is a "Thinly Armored Tank with a Big Cannon"?
??

OK John, Between you and Karl I might get a concise answer. How do they decide how to call a tank from a self propelled artillery from a tank killer and all the other vehicles with tracks and cannon that are sent out to destroy things? I can tell "Big Cannon from Little Cannon", but a tank? Thick armor? Why is this monster killer you present not just "Big Tank with Big Cannon" A "Tank Killer" is an obsolete term? It is a "Thinly Armored Tank with a Big Cannon"? ?? Kai Kai I understand your consternation in terms but one thing at a time: A tank killer is simular to a tank {Panzer} as it is a tracked armoured vehicle. The design though, differs in as well to the task it is designed to accomplish. A tank killer {Stug}has no turrant, with this, a very small gun {cannon}adjustment ability requiring for the most part, for the entire machine to adjust in position for any thing other then small gun sighting. The designed reason for the small ability of gun {Cannon} adjustment is for the reason of space and room that is inherent in the hull, for the designers wish to install the most powerful gun available for fitting. In the Swedish design, the tube {barrel projects in front of the machine, whilst the actual breach resides in the rear, this then for reason of space, an autoloader must be installed. The machine {Stug} is designed not so much to hunt down, but to attact the enemy tank{s} by ambush. Its {Stug} protection is with the armour given to it, stealth, maneuvour and training of the crew. For command purpose, the stug is a weapon of specialized use, whilst the present day tank {Panzer} is more general with features that are more valuable in the field of combat. It is a mobile cannon contained in a turrent of full movement, serves as the spear point in combat to take ground and can hold ground, provide protection for ground troops in forward attact postion. If disable, the Panzer can hold ground, become a protective shield against enemy fire power, serve through radio contact as forward observation post. Unless over run by enemy forces. For the most part, even as a given combat becomes fluid, when properly fielded, tanks {Panzer} in number, one will protect the other in field use. J.J. most likly will provide a much better explanation for the big cannon.. Karl
