Ahhh.. Kai is home, just about two hours now. The CO (Carbon Monoxide) alarm was going off when I came home. Happily the best result was the airing fo the house was not necessary, but I simply needed to change batteries.
Florida did do its best to help me adapt, as it rained the last half day before I left the beach area and headed to the airport hotel. So it cooled off suddenly from the high 80's to the 70's. Brrrr!
here in Alaska I see about 50 F on the thermometer, but it is more comfortable without the Florida humidity. I guess dressing will mean more than shorts, t shirt and sandals!
I came back on Alaska airlines & we had about 5 or 6 soldiers coming back with us, on leave from Iraq & other parts east. The stewardess made us aware of that & then had no trouble getting the airplaine full of anarchists to keep their seats & let the soldiers off so they could greet their waiting families that much sooner. It was a nice courtesy to see people extend. There was also applause & thanks for the guys.

Sorry to see you are in one of the wildfire areas, Holli. I left Flagler County (North of Daytona Beach) and got away from the fire that was burning there and fouling the atmosphere. The rain that I experienced at the end of my visit , according to TV news, helped the fire fighters but did not fully put out those fires. Then of course there were fires in several parts of the state and smoke coming down from Georgia fires.
It was sadly impressive to see the low water in so many places- wetlands that were not wet, and sump holes with nearly a meter of earth exposed below the vegetation/ normal water line. The only alligator I saw was about 1.5 meters long a short distance from my cousin's house.
