As a continental, North-West-European my taste in Pop music has always been transatlantic, a mix of British, American and continental European pop music.

I remember that many girls and women I knew in the late eighties around my age and older were crazy about Prince in the Netherlands. Later I found out in France (1990) that also Danish girls loved Prince. Often the same girls that were crazy about Madonna and Michael Jackson on a earlier age, or still were when they fancied Prince. I like Prince for 2 reasons, first for the musicality and Funk of his music and secondly, because girls liked Prince music.

Continental European bands and their hits in the Netherlands in the eighties:
After a deterioration of his career the Dutch rock start Herman Brood made a comeback of sorts a the end of the 1980’s . He toured Germany with a renewed Wild Romance.
Bamboléo" is a 1987 Spanish language song by Gitano-French Gipsy band Gipsy Kings, from their eponymous album. The song was written by band members Tonino Baliardo, Chico Bouchikhi (J. Bouchikhi) and Nicolas Reyes. It was arranged by Dominique Perrier. Bamboleo without an accent means "I swing" or "I sway" in Spanish.
The now iconic song has been a worldwide hit for the Gipsy Kings and has since been covered by many artists, both in Spanish and in other languages.

Pieter
Gollies, you have certainly brought up some many memories with your music selections.. Whilst I do admit to being of old Europe, non-the-less, is it permissible to enjoy music?
In as far as Dual by Propaganda, is not my favourite, but enjoyable, for I do enjoy the style..
But with Joe Jackson with Stepping Out, I have always thought as out standing for I do like his style.
But, and but, David Bowie with his China Doll and others. He was every thing in style and flash that I was not and still not...
Nina with 99 Red Balloons brings back some not very plesant memories of the those cold war years and some disappointments of what I wised to do and was barred from even thinking about it. That was to at least once, visit the DDR and view for my self with the experience.
Yes, Falco and: Der Kommissar
