Jaga,
I know Emile Ratelband because he is both a national personality and a regional/local personality in the Netherlands and my own city of Arnhem. He is a what we call 'typical Arnhemmer', a guy who was born and raised in Arnhem and lived all his life in Arnhem. I sometimes see him in the city or at meetings with a political, social, commercial or news nature.
We made this interview in the program 'The bench' with Emile Ratelband in which he became very emotional about his wife, and the fact that he can't see his children. He became very emotional and cried.
I was one of the 2 cameramen filming this episode of the bench.Emile RatelbandEmile Albert Rudolf Ratelband (born 11 March 1949) is a Dutch television personality, "positivity guru" and former politician for Leefbaar Nederland.BiographyEmile Ratelband was born in Arnhem on 11 March 1949. He has seven children, and is expecting an eighth in 2019.
In 2002, Ratelband started his own political party, Ratelband List (in Dutch, Lijst Ratelband), after being rejected as lijsttrekker for Leefbaar Nederland. Ratelband List took part in the elections for the Tweede Kamer on 22 January 2003, but failed to win a single seat.
In November 2018, Ratelband started a court case in Arnhem, seeking to have his date of birth legally changed from 11 March 1949 to 11 March 1969. Ratelband has said, "You can change your name. You can change your gender. Why not your age?" His attempt was rejected by the court on December 3, 2018.Motivation coachRatelband calls itself 'entertrainer' (a contraction of entertainer and trainer). With positive energy, for example, he lets people walk over hot coals and tries to heal phobic patients. Ratelband often uses the cry Tsjakka, according to him inspired by the battle cry from a series about the life of Shaka Zulu. Youp van 't Hek used the same word in his shows between 1986 and 1990, as a corruption of the chopping tsjak, with the meaning' darn, go for it '. Both deny having taken it over from each other. The word already existed for that time, probably the simultaneous popularization is coincidence.
Tsjakka!,
Ratelband is a trainer in neurolinguistic programming (NLP). In his book De Vuurloper he reports that he has been apprenticed to Tony Robbins for six months.Chamber elections 2003Ratelband was put forward by Jan Jetten of Leefbaar Nederland in the Dutch parliamentary elections of 2003 as candidate party leader of this party. Fred Teeven stepped on this as a leader. After a chaotic mood, Ratelband had to leave the list pull to Haitske van de Linde. Ratelband then set up its own party (Lijst Ratelband) to be able to participate in the elections for the Lower House. The party got nearly ten thousand votes, far below the minimum for a room seat.Other publicityIn December 2005, Ratelband recorded it in the Christian youth magazine X [ist] in Christ for Osama bin Laden, according to Ratelband an "enlightened thinker" whose work is "justified".
In 2009, Ratelband spoke about homosexuality with the Belgian weekly Dag Allemaal; an interview about which much fuss arose. He then spoke about this, among other things, the television program Pauw & Witteman, in which he denied some of those statements, but said gay people did see it as abnormal ("as long as they are in the minority") and characterized homosexuality as a deviation. Later, in a conversation with the COC (a Dutch organization for LGBT people), he took back his statements and even became a member of the association.
In 2011 Ratelband spoke the voice of Vladimir in the film Cars 2. In 2018 came Ratelband in the news because he through a court decision the birth year in his birth certificate, 1949, wanted to see as a miscarriage and that wanted to change in 1969, so his corresponding age of 69 would change to 49, which according to him his emotional age used to be. According to him, this would be in line with the arrangements for name and gender change. The court found that there was no question of a mistake, but that the petition would amount to changing the real year of birth into a fictitious year of birth. The court considered that age does indeed form part of someone's identity, just like name and gender, but that it also includes rights and duties, which does not play that way in name and gender. Also some arguments of Ratelband were insufficiently substantiated. On 3 December 2018, the court rejected its request. The court also noted that it would create all sorts of legal problems if official events had taken place before a person's registered date of birth, such as obtaining a diploma, entering into a marriage, or having a child. Ratelband considered appealing. In addition to the Netherlands, this situation was also discussed abroad in various newspapers and radio programs. Ratelband was also seen in a number of foreign television programs with his story.PersonaliaRatelband grew up in Arnhem, the son of a baker. At the age of nineteen he took over the bakeries on the Klarendalseweg and in the Steenstraat of his father. Then in 1978 he opened the snack bar Ratelband's Haphoek in the center of Arnhem. In 2015, his eldest son, Rolls Ratelband, took over De Haphoek.
Ratelband has been married twice and has seven children from three relationships.

Jaga
In as far as a reasonable reply to this fellows request of Government to legally change his age to 20 years prior. This is not a reasonable request, it is not for Government to honour such a request, for nature has predetermed the mans age by his natural birth year. For Government to compete with what nature has predetermined is not for Government to do.

One satirical, provocative, cynical, sarcastic and ironical comedian imitated some Dutch tv personalities and engaged Ratelband as Ratelband, not to the amusement of Ratelband himself as you can see. Like many Guru's he lacks self reflection and putting things into perspective.
Cheers, Pieter

The method Ratelband. Guest in the program 'the Black Sheep' leave the program after being insulted by Ratelband
The black sheep
The black sheep was a television program that was broadcast by VARA in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2005 and was presented by Inge Diepman. The program lasted about 45 minutes.
The number of episodes per season was quite variable because it was not always easy to find black sheep (guests) who also wanted to participate in the program. It also occurred that guests retired at the last moment. This was also the reason to stop the program after 2002. In 2005 five new episodes were made.
There was always one guest at the center who, in whatever way, had been discredited and therefore the black sheep. In the studio the guest was first interviewed by Inge Diepman, where a number of TV clips were shown, after which the guest told his or her side of the case. Behind a fence were supporters and opponents of the person in question (the white sheep) who took turns in a so-called "area" and then stated their pros and cons for or against the guest. Hereafter, Inge Diepman confronted her guest with these statements and the guest was given the opportunity to respond, which sometimes went very fast. There could be no direct physical contact through the fence. In the broadcast of 25 May 2002 Emile Ratelband, however, sprayed his opponent Piet Drenth with a super-maker.
Speaking guests include Hans Janmaat, Willem Oltmans (1999), Florrie Rost from Tonningen-Heubel, Theo van Gogh (2000), Pim Fortuyn (2001) and Gretta Duisenberg (2005).

I respect most people and everyone has the right to express her or his opinion, but Emile Ratelband in my opinion is to much show, circus, populism and thinking in easy solutions. He wants to shock the audience and than brings in the shocking element and then the presenters of the show say, 'You are not in Holland', because the United Kingdom (Great-Britain) is more traditional and conservative than North-Western-Europe on the European continent, countries like the Netherlands and Denmark. I agree with the British lady who interviews him. You have one age and that's it.

Karl, very well said - the nature predetermines the age even if we feel younger and look younger than our grandparents - so be it! Pieter, this "Black sheep" program seems like a cruel idea, but maybe it allows people understand how we can destroy other people just because we want... I don't understand Dutch enough to understand it but thank you for explaining.
