John,
thanks for bringing us back to Slavic mythology. I am surprised they don't have Baba Jaga but at least they have rusalki and couple of other characters I heard sth about. I am reading a book about Mazurian region (old Prussia) before WW II that belonged to Germany in that time. The book by Wankowicz is called "at the steps of Smetek" - it brings another mythic character of Smętek - a sad troll that influences peoples life negatively, but is also sad since Kashubians lost their roots in process of germanization.
