Nancy Pelosi: "I do reject socialism as a economic system. If people have that view, that's their view. That is not the view of the Democratic Party."

Democracy Now! Published on 11 jul. 2019
California Representative Nanette Barragán weighs in on the increasingly hostile atmosphere between Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and "the squad" — the party's freshman cohort of radical progressive women of color. "It has intensified over the whole issue of immigration." says Barragán. "There's a lot of tension going on." She also responds to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's call to dismantle the Department of Homeland Security.

Pieter, the information you posted are already old, in this very moment Democrats are much more united than divided, due to racist twists and behavior of Trump.

This could be, that you have temporary unity, but the fact of the difference between the centre and the leftwing (the Squad) exists. On the long term the differences prevail. Maybe Nancy Pelosi moderated her tone and moved closer to the four women, but they are still different generations and different kind of politicians from different brands of democrats.

Pieter, thanks for posting balanced views of the so called "squad". These are intelligent and good-meaning women who bring a lot of experience and wisdom from their point of view that is different from the WASP.
