Poles should be able to travel visa-free by 2020: US ambassador sd/rg 30.07.2019, 09:04
US ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher told the Polish “Do Rzeczy” weekly that Poles should be able to travel visa-free to the US by the end of 2020.
Ms Mosbacher was asked about Poland’s acceptance into the US Visa Waiver programme (VWP).
It was pointed out that in her last interview with the weekly she had said that Poles would be able to travel visa-free to the US by September 2019.
In her response, she confirmed that by the end of the fiscal year, that is, September 2019, all visa waiver requirements would be met and Poland would be nominated to enter the US Visa Waiver programme.
She added that she would be able to keep her promise because the implementation process lasts from three to six months. Even if it ends in 2020, completion of the remaining procedures would only be a formality, she stated.
Warsaw has been eyeing the VWP that allows citizens from 38 countries, including Germany, Chile and South Korea, to travel to the United States for up to 90 days without a visa, for business or leisure. Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Croatia are the only EU member countries not included in the US VWP.
The programme was created in 1986 and was initially capped to eight countries. The US Congress since then has passed legislation amending qualifying criteria and allowing more countries to participate. It became a permanent programme in 2000.
Individuals travelling to the US under the VWP must be checked via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, which runs searches on law enforcement databases. If someone is denied travel through the electronic system, they can still apply for a visa. source: pap

John,
I hope this would really happen. These promises for visa-free travel from Poland to the US are given to Polish government for 20-30 years and nothing happens. I hope that The Honorable Georgette Mosbacher has some extra influence on pres. Trump.
Sorry guys, I was in Chicago at the conference for four days and my computer internet connection did not work well, so I could use only the cellphone and could not contribute to the discussions. But I am back now...

But I am back now... Jaga Welcom back! Work comes first... I hope your stay in Chicago was pleasent with good people from the conference with you for discussions and after hours friendship sharing. Conferences are very good for bringing out new information and making good contacts with those in your work. Often, with shared discussions, some times some thing new will come up and then shared amongst the group which makes the time fruitful. As with the hand outs, good note taking helps after hours for reviewing the days discussions. Karl

Karl, I am glad to see you back also. Yes, I had a good trip to Chicago, I meet many interesting people and we had a famous deep- dish pizza. It was so nice in Chicago and cooler than I expected, probably due to the influence of Michigan lake. I am adding one picture Attachments:

John,
you were right in predicting that the US may abolish visas to Poland. I just saw in Polish mass media that the American airlines are planning increasing the amount of connections.
