www.facebook.com/rtvarnhem/videos/2483440765105147/UzpfSTE1NzAzMzQwMjc6MTAyMTc5NDQ0MTQyMzMyMTE/These are Parliamentary leaders of the party fractions in the Arnhem Municipal council. On wednesday morning they meet in the Arnhem city council building from 9:00 until 10:00 AM in a meeting with the mayor of Arnhem who is the chairman of the city council and his vice chairman of the city council. In the evening you have city council meeting from 18:45 until 23:15. My work starts after that meeting and I am often editing a political item until 2 or 3 o clock in the morning. Next day I start later. It is quite different to see them fresh, relaxed and cosy in the morning and after a day of hard work in the evening when the stress of political debate and heavy files cost energy. They are more tense in the evening I can assure you. Being active in politics is that next to your daily work youn reed for 20 hours or more files, motions and amendments.

I do this for 12 years and I sometimes realise how well I know these city councillors of all the parties, the party organisations (boards), the aldermen and alderwomen and the mayor, the communication (Public relations) people of the aldermen/women and mayor. The top civil servants. The financial adivisors, the economical advisors, the social affairs advisors, the budget advisors, the city accountants, and the clerks, chief clerk, or secretaries of a legislative chamber of the local Arnhem poltics, is the senior administrative officer responsible for ensuring that the business of the Arnhem city council runs smoothly.
I deal with 12 political parties in the Arnhem city council:
1) The largest political party GroenLinks (leftwing ecological green party) which has 7 councillors in the council. 2) The Second Largest political party, the VVD (centre right liberal conservative party) which has 6 councillors. 3) The Third Largest political party, the D66 (centrist social liberal party) which has 5 councillors. 4) The Forth Largest political party, the PvdA (centre left Social Democratic Labour party) which has 4 councillors. 5) The SP (=Socialistische Partij/The Socialist party) (leftwing, socialist, leftwing Populist) which has 3 councillors. 6) The PVV (Rightwing Populist, far right) which has 2 councillors. 7) The CDA (centre right social conservative, Christian democratic party) which has 2 councillors. 8) Arnhem Central (Local, centrist party) which has 3 councillors. 9) Denk (Think) (centre left, Turkish migrant, leftwing Populist) which has 2 councillors. 10) The Party for the Animals (Ecological, animal rights) which has 2 councillors. 11) Christian Union (Christian political party, evangelical/biblical) which has 2 councillors. 12) The Arnhem party for the elders (Pensioners interest and elder people party)
P.S.- GroenLinks, the VVD, D66 and the PvdA (Labour party) form a coalition and govern the city. The Mayor Ahmed Marcouch is also a Labour (PvdA) party man, but has no connection to the Arnhem branch of the Labour party, because as mayor he is there for all Arnhem people and all the political parties.

Politcs sometimes means working in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night. Politcs is a time consuming thing.

Sometimes I also visit party meetings or theme evenings or gatherings:
These are meetings of the local D66 councillors and aldermen with their Arnhem D66 party branch, D66 party members in Arnhem and D66 people of the National branch and other cities and towns.
This one I made as a camjo (Cameraman journalist) and editor
I interviewed the D66 fraction leader and the D66 aldermen from the Arnhem city administration.
Ofcourse I did the same with other parties. The benefit of doing this for 12 years is that I know these people personally and have networked with local politicians a lot. It is important to know them very well and to go to many political meetings, press releases and press conferences, party meetings, new year meetings, subject debate evenings and sometimes national party congresses when they are in Arnhem.

National party congresses in Arnhem I visited:
Extremely emotional party congress of the Christian democratc CDA party. The party was in a very difficult period in which the Rightwing and the leftwing clashed over cooperation with Geert Wilders PVV party. This guy is from the rightwing wing of the CDA.
This was the first time a national party congres of a Dutch political party was aired live on National (NOS) television. The CDA was in huge turmoil. 1/3d of many city councils quit the CDA fraction and started their own centre-left dissident local fractions.
This was the last time I saw some old party figures with charisma from the eighties and nineties
I was not present at this meeting, but this national congress of D66 also took place in Arnhem

National politicians I interviewed:I had 2 interviews with this national leader of the D66 party: By the way I bought the book 'Optimist in politics' from this D66 politician. I like to read books of various politiciand and political leaders to know and understand their mindsets and visions.
As a radio guy I interviewed Geert Wilders once, and I filmned him when he came to Arnhem and my colleage interviewed him. We had to stood our ground in the press mass and had to defend our position and 'fought/struggled' our way to Geert Wilders. Geert Wilders at a demo against the installation of the Dutch Moroccan labour mayor in ArnhemGeert wilders arrived in special cars with his heavy dudes (guards who surround him 24 hours a day) Listen to 38:45. You don't have to agree to what she is saying, but she describes Geert Wilders protection and life very well.I could only interiew Geert Wilders after I went through a strict identity check, security check, body search, scan machine and etc. I have never seen such heavy protection in the Netherlands. It was like if Donald Turmp or the French president arrived. Heavy dudes, heavy cars, and a lot of police.

The crazy thing about politcs is that you know the far right, you know the extreme left, you know the islamists and Muslim democrats, you know the leftwingers, rightwingers, localists, Christian democrats, social democrats, conservatives, liberal conservatives, evangelicals, liberals, social liberals, artists, free thinkers, local/regional academical intelligentsia, workers, middle class and high class. A lot of civil servants (of the muncipality, the province of Gelderland and the national level), entrepreneurs, people from the cultural sector and local real Arnhem people and a lot of Communication marketing and Public Relations people. And you are part of the local/regional press/media world of RTV-Arnhem/De Gelderlander/Omroep Gelderland.www.rtv-arnhem.nl/www.omroepgelderland.nl/www.gelderlander.nl/?referrer=https://www.google.com/

Pieter
Thank you for your very interesting description of your work and what it takes to interview such important people as you have described. This was also demonstrated by your description of the intense security that accompanies Mr. Geert Wilders. With this, the crazy hours you must endure with your work.
For as above, you are indeed so, a public icon, for your work, is to get the word out that each politician depends upon with each interview you do. With this also, is the matter of public trust in your work that the public depends upon for the accurate news you gather for production.
Thank you once again for sharing the experience of your work..
