Of course this sexual harassment of women and men did and does not only take place in the USA. In the Netherlands and other European countries and in other Western nations like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Western part of South-Africa (the European heritage community) this takes place too (about South-Africa I know this from my sister and stories of her white South-African girlfriends. South-Africa is a very Patriarchal society. It doesn't matter if it is in the Black, coloured, White or Indian -Hindu- communities, you have the Me Too problem there too. The culture of the White South Africans and their life style is similar to that of the Australians, an English speaking Western culture with European roots and links with the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France -the partly French Huguenot heritage of the Afrikaner people - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrikaners -, Canada and New Zealand).
This sexual harassment is not limited to the white people or christians, because also in the Black, Coloured and Asian communities you have sexual harassment cases. This thread is about the Media/Press, but we all know about what happened and probably still is happening within the Roman-Catholic church with the sexual abuse cases. I tell you coming from a Calvinist Protestant country, also in strict, puritinical, Bible Belt, Duch Reformed communities you have these sexual harassment cases. Incest cases, sexual harassment within Church communities and such. Mind you this is always not a norm or normal and accepted, but there were is political, religious or society status power there can be abuse. Sexual abuse also took place and is taking place within sport communities, within public schools and on work places, both government officers and corporate private businesses.
There were cases of sexual abuse within the Ultra-Orthodox jewish community in Williamsburg in New York and in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, there were cases within the Hindu community and within the Muslim community.
This is a problem for the whole society. Megyn Kelly said it jiust right, both women and men can become victim of this. Also young teenage boys or young adult men can become victims of powerful, superior, male sexual harassment. The predators are out there in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa (Cape Town and Johannesburg) and also Israel.
The Moshe Katsav case
Moshe Katsav (Hebrew: מֹשֶׁה קַצָּב; born 5 December 1945) is an Israeli former politician who was the eighth President of Israel from 2000 to 2007. He was also a leading Likud member of the Israeli Knesset and a minister in its cabinet. He was the second Mizrahi Jew to be elected to presidency (after Yitzhak Navon).
The end of his presidency was marked by controversy, stemming from allegations of rape of one female subordinate and sexual harassment of others. Katsav resigned the presidency in 2007 as part of a plea bargain. Katsav later rejected the deal with prosecutors and vowed he would prove his innocence in court. In an unprecedented case, on 30 December 2010, Katsav was convicted of two counts of rape, obstruction of justice and other charges. On 22 March 2011, in a landmark ruling, Katsav was sentenced to seven years in prison. Katsav appealed his conviction to the Supreme Court of Israel. On 10 November 2011, the Supreme Court affirmed Katsav's conviction and punishment.
On 7 December 2011, Katsav arrived at Maasiyahu Prison in Ramla to begin serving his seven-year sentence. He was released from prison, under restrictive conditions, on 21 December 2016, having served five years of his sentence.
Pieter, I saw fragments of Megyn and other women discussion after watching the movie about the ex Fox boss. They were in tears. He was manipulating and for women he usually gave them a chance on air if they were willing to fulfill some of his sexual advances.
