Yes, it is as it is with nature, protection of the species by their own means. For as it appears,such with ants, termites and bees, they depend upon the group specialized efferts for each with their own for the protection of the whole. With this, at the expense of the few..
Good presentation, a reminder of what we as busy people needs be to remember from our long past school time..

I was always amazed by high organization of some of low groups of animals like insects. It is hard to imagine how they were able to perfect these skills.

Pieter,
these are huge mounts. I did not realize that they may move and fight and consolidate. So this was new for me. I though that the most aggressive aunt are somewhere in Amazon forest. But once in the past my apartment was invaded by ants in the middle on night in Texas. I had to flee to my then boyfriend. It was scary
