101 years old images of the North-Eastern Dutch city of Groningen (near the German city of Bremen). People really looked different in 1919 and acted different than people today. They were defeninately smaller than the Dutch people today. And in this video you see that they weren't used to being filmed. The one guy on the bike who repeatedly looks over his shoulder to look at the cameraman. Today everybody is used to people who make video's with their I-phones, smart Phones (Sansungs), I-pads, their tablets, video camera's or with their Reflex camera's with video fuction. Als more equality social security and more wealth made people stronger. And there are less class differences today. In the old images you see the working class, the bourgeois middle class and high class differences. People with a uniform have more authority than today. The traffick was different. You see more horses and carriages than today, you see the electric tram and a few old fashionate 1919 or twenties cars (in the other video's).

Pieter
May I offer to you many thanks for presenting these various videos with such a view of life in your Nederland in those years of the 20s and 30s. For my self was whilst viewing them, placing withen my minds eye, how it was to live in those times. The styles of clothing, how people managed with the world only they knew.
And yes, in many ways, they knew not of the electronics we use as an every day manner. In this way, they used their time as people to people and were social in a way we some times forget. For us, it is not unusual to say that life must have been very hard in those times, but then, if a person knows not any other way of life, it is just living in the time that was theirs alone.

Pieter, beautiful films. It almost reminded me of Poland in the 60s - when we still had some horses riding on the streets of town. On the other hand it is visible that this is NOT Poland.
