The Netherlands is looking for a solution for 125 stranded Indians at Schiphol
It is still unclear what should happen to the group of 125 Indians who are refused by India and who are stuck at Schiphol. The group was initially on its way to India yesterday, but halfway through the flight the captain was informed that the plane was not allowed to land due to an Indian entry ban.
The Indians landed at Schiphol again around 10 p.m. last night. But because there is also an entry ban in the Netherlands, they were not allowed to enter the country. The group was received in the international lounge at Schiphol.
In a video, a stranded passenger says she was from Mexico and had to make a transfer via Amsterdam. "We don't know what to do," she says. She also said there was a pregnant woman in the plane who fell ill during the flight. It is not known how she is doing.
The military police speak of a special and unpleasant situation. "These are of course people who are upset at the military police and cannot go any further," said spokesman Robert van Kapel on NPO Radio 1.
Van Kapel says that a lot of pressure is now being exerted to see whether they can still make a follow-up flight in some way. "That has not yet happened."
The Immigration and Naturalization Service, among others, is involved in the matter. The ambassador of India has also taken care of the people.
