poem (no. 1556):
Rotown magic
Rotterdam cannot be filmed The images change too quickly Rotterdam has no past and no stepped gables
Rotterdam is not romantic has no time for baloney is not open to suggestions does not listen to weak balls
It's not camera sensitive doesn't seem more beautiful than it is It is square high and angular tilted in the backlight
Rotterdam is not an illusion woken up by the camera Rotterdam cannot be filmed Rotterdam is far too real----------------------------------- from: 'Almost all poems', 2004
Poem: Rotown Magic - Poet: Jules Deelder (He was called and was the Night mayor of Rotterdam) Music: Mad World - Francesco Parrino cover https: //www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ8T ....Jules Deelder - 1944-2019Jules Anton Deelder (24 November 1944 – 19 December 2019) was a Dutch poet, spoken word poet and writer. His poems cover topics such as life in the city of Rotterdam, drug use, and jazz. He was very passionate about the Dutch language and feared that European integration would cause smaller languages like Dutch to become a "folkloric" curiosity. He was well known in the Netherlands for his live performances and appearances in Dutch popular media. He collaborated with musicians and bands such as Herman Brood, Benjamin Herman and Bas van Lier to record and perform his poetry. His prominent role in the cultural life of Rotterdam earned him the nickname "night mayor of Rotterdam."
Deelder was the presenter of his own jazz radio show, Deelder Draait, on Arrow Jazz FM. He also wrote scripts for the comic book series Amber en Akka and Professor Hilarius, drawn by Rob Derks. He furthermore inspired a celebrity comic of his own, Juul Deeldert, drawn by Vick Debergh.Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_Deelder

Pieter
It is interesting of the manner of compliance of most people in the time of emergency. For it demonstrates the manner of people coming together under a common issue as of the present. For the most part, most people are very resilient under such emergency situations as experienced at present. It is for this reason that central authority should never under estimate the resolve of people. For such as instances as experienced at present has the way of unifying and bringing people together under a common threat as experienced at present.
There will it seems, of some of the few that will not comply to common rules as recognized by reasonable people, but this always seems to be as it is.

RotterdamI am amazed how this chap in Rotterdam does his interview. He takes incredible amounts of risks. Maybe Rotterdam people are less intelligent. Lower eductated than the average Dutch? This is incredible, these people don't look intelligent and certainly don't act intelligent. I can't believe my eyes to be frank. Really, I can't believe this. This is a few days ago. I use a boom pole, a long pole with a microphone attached, used to record participants who are being filmed while allowing the operator to stay out of the shot.I use a boom pole, a long pole with a microphone attached, used to record participants who are being filmed while allowing the operator to stay out of the shot, like in this photo. In that way I keep about 1,5 to 2 meter distance to the person I interview.

Pieter, it is sad that everything is so quiet. It is hard to believe, Ela was doing her travels just three months ago and she was going through Amsterdam airport. Referring to the ZOO - at least animals have a break.
I think that there would be some change in the world after this epidemy is over, but who knows how long it would take.
It is good that we have the internet at least and other ways to communicate

Dear Jaga,
I know that the situation in Italy and New York is much worse than in the Netherlands. Thank god the strict measures and the disciplined behavior of most Dutch people decreased the amount of contaminated people. Thank god for that. Dutch medics and corona nurses get psychological assistance, because the work is extremely heavy, stress-full, sad and often really terrible for these people. They witness painful, gruesome and lonely deaths of the corona virus 🦠 patients.
Cheers, Pieter

Pieter, at least all of us are in this together. I was going to be in India a week ago, in Mumbai, but the conference was called off and the INL also did not let people go. Jaga,
Yes, we are blessed that we don't live in the communities that are the most affected. I agree with you. But we have to stay careful and don't take things for granted.
Cheers, Pieter
