PlaasaanvalleSouth African farm attacks (Afrikaans: plaasaanvalle) are violent crimes – including murder, assault and robbery – that take place on farms in South Africa. The attacks target farmers, who are usually white, and farm workers, who are usually black. Many black farmers and their workers are also victims of violent attacks. The term has no formal legal definition, but such attacks have been the subject of discussion by media and public figures in South Africa and abroad. There is insufficient data to reliably estimate a murder rate for South African farmers. South African government data indicated between 54 and 74 murders on farms annually in the period 2015–2019, and 48-64 during 2010 - 2014; out of an annual murder count of 20,000 total murders in South Africa; these figures are broadly consistent with figures collected by the Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU), a farmers' union. Due to the problems associated with counting the number of South African farmers and farm murders, it is unclear whether farmers are at greater risk of being murdered than other South Africans.
Data released by the South African government in 2018 showed that the number of farm attacks had increased between 2012 and 2018, but that the number of murders on farms had decreased year by year during the period. During the same year farming organisation AgriSA reported on police statistics which suggested that the murder rate on farms had declined to the lowest level in 20 years, to a third of the level recorded in 1998.
Unsubstantiated claims that such attacks on farmers disproportionately target whites are a key element of the white genocide conspiracy theory and have become a common talking point among white nationalists worldwide. There are no reliable figures that suggest that white farmers are being targeted in particular or that they are at a disproportionate risk of being killed. The Government of South Africa and other analysts maintain that farm attacks are part of a broader crime problem in South Africa and do not have a racial motivation.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_farm_attacksaf.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaasmoorde_in_Suid-Afrika (Fpr South-African Afrikaansspeaking visitors) fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attaques_de_fermes_en_Afrique_du_SudAtaki na farmy w Południowej AfryceAtaki na farmy w RPA (afr. Plaasmoorde, dosł. „mordy na farmach”) – napady i morderstwa na farmach w Republice Południowej Afryki. Według oficjalnych statystyk 89% napadów w latach 1998-2001 to zwykłe napady rabunkowe, 2% napadów miało podtekst rasowy.
W kręgach rasistowskich (m.in. Organizacja neguje jednak, by w RPA miało kiedykolwiek miejsce ludobójstwo na białych farmerach.

Jaga,
White South African Afrikaner people go to many countries to escape the bad situation for white people in South-Africa. Due to these terrible 'Plaasaanvalle' (South African farm attacks), but also due to attacks on civilians, home invasions, robberies, rapes, killings in towns, urban agglomerations, suburbs and South-Afican cities. These is no future for Afrikaners in South-Africa, a country where they have lived and worked for centuries. Afrikaners, are South Africans of European descent whose native language is Afrikaans. They are descendants of the Boers. Boer, (Dutch: “husbandman,” or “farmer”), a South African of Dutch, German, or French (Huguenot) descent, especially one of the early settlers of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State (Oranje-Vrystaat). Today, descendants of the Boers are commonly referred to as Afrikaners. In the same time I have to say that there is also no future for the White Anglo Africans (English South Africans), because they share the same fate as the white Afrikaner people in South-Africa as white people.
Afrikaners today are not all farmers, but also Middle class people, working class people, business people, teachers, professors at universities, doctors, lawjers, nurses, shop keepers, Horeca owners, Real estate agents, police officers, army people, artists, writers, poets, graphic designers and fashion designers and Hollywood movie stars (Charlize Theron). The husband of my sister in South-Africa, who is English South-African (Anglo African), often defended the Afrikaner people. He said; "You have primitive ideas about the Afrikaners, as blunt boers (peasents/farmers), Apartheid police, Apartheid army and Apartheid security apparatus (Intelligence community, the secret services from the Apartheid era - Between 1948 and 1990-), but there is a very sophisticated and rich Afrikaner culture, literature, poetry, music world (Afrikaner Folk music), and you have many Afrikaner professors, teachers, medics, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists from the contemporary art world (Fine Art), real estate agents, bankers and businesspeople."
Charlize Theron (born 7 August 1975) is a South African (Afrikaner) and American actress and producer. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016. As of 2019, she is one of the world's highest-paid actresses.
Via his mother's side my sister's husband has Afrikanerblood (his mother can speak and reads Afrikaans). But he lives in the White English South-African community of Cape Town. But he also had always contact, worked with and sympathetic towards white Afrikaner people in Cape Town and South-Africa and Black and Coloured people in Cape Town. It is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious world out there in Cape Town (Western Cape, South-Africa).
Next to Protestant and Roman-Catholic christians you have a lot of jews, Muslims and Hindu's in Cape Town. Green Point where we stayed in Cape Town was a rather Jewish and mixed Jewish and christian neighbourhood with also some Christian Lebanese shops, Cape Malayan Muslims and a Pakistani restaurant. It was the first time I was in a Pakistani restaurant and the first time I epxerienced an English language Jewish atmosphere with huge Kosher departments in Supermarkets, Jewish cafereria, lunch rooms, restaurants, bagel stores, hairrdressers and etc. We lived opposite a Synagogue and I saw the Sabbath life over there on Friday evening and saturday morning. With their singing and the jewish families going to shul. In the same street as the Synagogue was a Methodist white church and a Black Baptist church. The gap between poor and rich in Cape Town is a larger problem than the gap between races today Jaga. You have rich Black people (government officials and business people) and incredibly poor black people today in the townships, you have rich white people and extremely poor white people (white beggars on the street, white slums, white townships, mainly poor Afrikaners), you have rich coloured people and poor coloured people in the Cape Flats area of Cape town but also in other parts of the city.
Crime and violence is a problem in particulary the Coloured Afrikaans speaking community in Cape town, with 'Bloods' and 'Crips' like gangs and the notorious Pollsmoor Prison (Pollsmoor Maximum Security Prison).Hard LivingsA combination of a Hard Living and 28s gang tags in Manenberg, Cape Town. The Hard Livings is a Cape Town based street gang whilst the 28s are a South African prison gang. The Hard Livings gang is a large street gang and organized crime group based in Manenberg, Cape Town. A number of other smaller gangs form part of the Hard Livings gang and owe allegiance to it. The Hard Livings is one of two 'super gangs' in Cape Town with the other one being The Americans.
The gang was formed in 1971 by Rashied Staggie and his twin brother Rashaad. The gang started out as a criminal street gang mostly involved in drug distribution for which they competed with the Americans gang. After their distribution network grew, the Hard Livings gang as well as their rivals evolved into a structured criminal organisation involved in a wide range of criminal activities. In 1996 Rashaad was publicly set alight and killed by the vigilante group PAGAD. In December 2019, Rashied was shot and killed in the same street where Rashaad was killed. The flag of the United Kingdom is often used as a symbol for the Hard Livings gang. This is in contrast to the American flag that the rival Americans gang uses.In the 1990s and early 2000s the gang was known to have had a strong presence in the wealthy Green Point and Sea Point areas of Cape Town.
The gang is known to have been involved in both international and local organised crime. Their local activities range from drug running & trading, poaching, protection rackets, prostitution and shebeening (provision of unlicensed drinking places). Internationally they have been known to have cooperated with the Sicilian mafia in the trafficking of illegal diamonds as well as trafficking Cannabis to Europe. The Americans (gang)The flag of the United States is often used as a symbol for the Americans gang. This is in contrast to the British flag that the rival Hard Livings gang uses. The Americans gang is a large street gang and organized crime group based in Cape Flats area of Cape Town. Like the Hard Livings gang, many smaller gangs throughout the Cape Flats owe allegiance to it. Some of these gangs include the Spoilt Brats, Dollar Kids, Young Americans, and Dixie Boys. It is the largest of the street gangs in Cape Town.
The Americans were founded by Jackie Lonte in Belgravia Estate, Athlone who was previously a member of the Fancy Boys gang, but then betrayed them by stabbing the gang leader at the time to death. Lonte was assassinated in the late 1990s. Their activities range from drug running and trading, poaching, abalone poaching, protection rackets and prostitution to more legitimate business operations.
They are active in most coloured communities of the Cape Flats.
The Americans gang is different from, although related to, other Cape Flats gangs that also use the "American" name such as the Young Americans and Ugly Americans. The violence of these coloured gangs makes Cape Town and surrounding muncipalities, Urban agglomerations, towns and cities unsafe. As a result of that white people, and richer Blacks and coloured people move to safer area's, to gated communities and other safe zones. Many white South-Africans moved to the United Kingdom, Australia, Continental Europe (the Netherlands) and other countries, because they see no future in South-Africa for themselves and their families.
For the White Afrikaner farmers living in the rural country side armed black attackers are dangerous for them. Because they are attacked with knives, machetes, guns and riffles and are often tortured to death, raped (women and girls) and brutally killed. That is the reason these white African farmers are moving to Russia, Georgia, Australia and other countries with a lot of farm land where they can use their skills as farmers and make a living and be an asset to their new nations. I even saw some white Afrikaners who converted to Judaism and became farmers in Israel. The story of a small community of Afrikaners who converted to Judaism, moved to the Holy Land and made their home on a settlement deep inside the West Bank, on land contested by a Palestinian family living nearby. For South Africa's Carte Blanche.Cheers, Pieter

The problem today is that this violence targets these white Afrikaner farmers who are important for the South-African food production. But also other white people, Indians (Hindu people), Coloured people and black people are targeted and murdered. But this murder campaign especially targets white Afrikaner farmers.

My sister (Pieter's) lives in Houtbay with her husband, 3 year old daughter and 21 years old son
his throat and the glare of a torch in his eyes. That victim of home invasion was Gordon Clark, a film director freshly returned from 26 years of directing films in Hollywood. Further investigation proved that his story was not news worthy - not even to the local rag; his tale was too mundane - neighbours on every side had been through similar. The further he looked, the more-of-the-same he found -- few suburbs across the country escaped this reality. To air this plight and turn an urgent spotlight on the terror of it, Gordon gave his neighbours the microphone to tell their story first hand and unrestricted. Without dissolution Gordon allows the victims to describe their moment of terror and induction into the South African reality. #BehindParadiseTheMovie peels back the fragile veneer of normality that cloaks South African suburbia to illustrate what most of us don't realize, or will not declare, until we too become victims. Gordon treads where few will go, deep into the personal anguish, the horror of the crime. He allows the victims to tell their story, uninterrupted and without external comment. Each story is unique and raw with the commonality of crime the thread. The humanness of it all is impossible to dodge, this is confrontational film making that does not ask questions -- it confronts the viewer. Do not expect a clean, boxed social commentary with resolution. This film is clearly meant to evoke, there is no resolve in its intent. Instead it hopes to achieve a beginning. "I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin." Neo in the film "The Matrix" 1999 What you don't know, you cannot Þx It is not the diagnosis of a dread disease that kills, it is the denial of the diagnosis that allows it to silently consume from within. The solution to solving crime, to restoring safety, dignity, security and investment value, is to uncover the facts and go after the perpetrators who rob us of far more than the items they take at knife-point; the criminals who steal your very foundations and future, and those who allow it and who may even aide and abet them. In their own words Too many South Africans have been driven by home invasions to abandon their paradise, to run and to emigrate. Nation wide our communities have become walled and barbed and dysfunctional as everyone tries to survive the onslaught. We are a nation under siege. Behind Paradise takes us back to where it really matters. Statistics have become chewing gum for the eyes and as a society we have forgotten, neglected the reality behind them. The horror of crime is real and experienced daily in a country where the moral fabric of society has been ripped away. Behind Paradise returns us to the actual emotion of crime's sharp end. The relating of the intricacies of the casualties personal experiences are a mirror held up to each of us. That mirror may or may not reflect your future - a future you can reverse only if you take action. We can run no more. Take the fight to those who can make a difference: • Hold politicians responsible • Force authorities to implement an effective police force free of corruption with sufficient resources to police its jurisdiction • Get involved in your community and neighbourhood watcheswith police oversight • Get to know your neighbours and collaborate on any suspicious behavior • Audit your own home security and take steps to improve it • Support this cause by sharing this documentary • Visit our strategic partner, Victim Support Network (VSN) - where you can share your stories and crime-solutions there, read other stories and learn from their situations or mistakes • Rebuild your neighbourhood into a strong community

Folks,
I have been to the Western Cape and saw Cape Town in 1997, 2003 and 2004, and saw several townships there. The townships of Cape Town are Khayelitsha (391,749 inhabitants), Mitchells Plain (310,485 inhabitants), Philippi (200,603 inhabitants), Delft (152,030 inhabitants), Nyanga (57,996 inhabitants), Gugulethu (98,468 inhabitants), and Mfuleni (52,274 inhabitants). Cape Town, the Western Cape, South-Africa is the African continent and I immediately realised it when I landend on Cape Town Airport and when we drove from Cape Town Airport to Cape Town city to the neighbourhood Greenpoint where my sister and her South-African husband lived back then in 1997. All these years that my sister lived in South-Africa from 1993 until today in 2020 I have kept contact with my sister and her family and I discussed the situation in South-Africa with South-African family members and Dutch people who went there, travelled there, lived and worked there.
Next to Cape Town (Waterfront, Sea Point and Green Point neighbourhoods, Cape Town city centre) I saw Houtbay, Stellenbosch, Frenchhook, Kirstenbosch, Simon's Town (Simonstad) and Cape Point (Kaappunt) in the Western Cape and other towns and settlements there. When I was there I had the opportunity to observe and live in Cape Town as a local, because I stayed with family and saw how they lived their daily life and didn't saw the tourist life of Hotels, Motels and touristic centres. I saw the bright side and the shadow (insecurity) of living there.
When you drive along the highway from Cape Town Airport to Cape Town city, the Settlers Way, you pass the townships Nyanga and Gugulethu, and that first experience with South-Africa showed me the poverty, slums and poverty of South-Africa, the fact that the First World and Third World existed and exist next to each other over there. I never saw such poverty, poor clothed people and even the fact that people of the townships walked along the highway. The climate, atmosphere, light, people, language (accents), culture, architecture, food and history over there was different than the Europe I knew and the USA I would get to know later on in 1999 (California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah) and New York in June 2008.

I came in a post-Apartheid state where Apartheid had vanished, but where of course Apartheid, British Colonial, Dutch East Indies Company (VOC) and Afrikaander Boer and Anglo African (White English South African) elements where everywhere in Cape Town, a rather English South-African liberal city in South-Africa, next to the conservative Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg Afrikaner based (dominated) cities. But Apartheid was of course present in Cape Town too. You had Afrikaners in Cape Town too.
But nothing is as black and white, simplistic like portrayed in American Hollywood and European movies about South-Africa with the Black victims of Apartheid and the White oppressors of Apartheid. You had Black South African and Bushmen (Khoisan) collaborators with Apartheid and white Afrikaner and Anglo-African opponents of Apartheid. Afrikaner Boers were and are Calvinist Reformed Protestant Christians, and many of them saw themselves (their people) as the 'Chosen' people who settled the land. Their old Dutch Calvinist faith merged with this typical South-African farmer mythology, messianism and connection to the soil and the land they had worked for many generations.
The reality in South-Africa is that both the Apartheid National Party governments and the Post-Apartheid ANC governments created inequality, poverty and both had and have a racist base. The present day ANC government benefits the Black majority and discriminates and disadvantage minorities like White Afrikaners, White English South Africans, Coloured people (mixed race people), Indian Hindu's, Asian people, the Khoisan (Bushmen, indigenous people), and even the majority Zulu and Xsosa ANC ( ), Economic Freedom Fighters ( effonline.org/ ) , Black First Land First ( blf.org.za/quick-qa-on-black-first-land-first-blf/ ) and PAC ( www.pacofazania.org.za/gallery/ ). The ANC adminstration only stays in place, because many people stay loyal to the party of John Langalibalele Dube, Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, Oliver Tambo, Walter Sisulu, Griffiths Mxenge, Cyril Ramaphosa, Jacob Zuma and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Despite the corruption, fraud, clientelism, nepotism of the present ANC government and the terrible crime, murder, rape, HIV-Aids rates and deteriotating Health and economy the South-African Xsosa, Zulu, Pedi, Tswana, Southern Sotho, Tsonga, Swazi, Venda, and Southern Ndebele Black masses keep voting for the ANC (African National Congress) government party of president Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa (born 17 November 1952) or the radical left and militant anti-White Black Nationalist Economic Freedom Fighters. The ANC has 230 seats in the National Assembly of South Africa of 400 seats in total, while the Economic Freedom Fighters have 44 seats in the National Assembly. The only reasonable, moderate, centrist (centre right to centre left) political party, Democratic Alliance, has 84 seats in the National Assembly. The Democratic Alliance (Afrikaans: Demokratiese Alliansie) (DA) is a South African political party and the official opposition to the governing African National Congress (ANC).
In addition to governing several major metropolitan municipalities, the DA has been governing the Western Cape, one of South Africa's nine provinces, since the 2009 general election, having won a bigger majority at the election in 2014, but slightly losing support in the 2019 election. The party draws its support predominantly from Afrikaans and English-speaking people (80%+), people aged over 35 (65%+), and white people (50%+), as well as the Indian South African community and the Coloured community.Ivan Henry Meyer (born 28 March 1962) is a South African politician. He is currently serving as the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Agriculture since 2019 and a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 2009. He was elected interim Federal Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance (DA) on 17 November 2019. He had formerly served as the First Deputy Federal Chairperson of the DA from 2015 to 2019.Mmusi Aloysias Maimane (born 6 June 1980) is a South African politician, the former Leader of South Africa's opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) political party from 10 May 2015 to 23 October 2019, and the former Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa from 29 May 2014 to 24 October 2019. He is the former leader of the DA in the Johannesburg City Council and the DA National Spokesperson. In 2011, he was elected to be the DA's Johannesburg mayoral candidate in the 2011 municipal elections. In that election, Maimane helped to grow the party's voter base, but was not elected mayor. Thereafter he served as Leader of the Official Opposition on the Johannesburg City Council until May 2014. In addition to his political career, he is also a pastor and elder in the conservative Liberty Church. He formed the One South Africa Movement in 2020.Lindiwe Mazibuko (born 9 April 1980) is a Swazi-born South African academic, former politician, musician and the former Parliamentary Leader for the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA).[1][2] She was varyingly labelled a "rising star in Parliament" and a possible future DA leader.[3][4] She was elected the new DA parliamentary leader on 27 October 2011,[5] beating incumbent Athol Trollip in a tight race,[6] becoming the first non-white person to lead the Democratic Alliance in parliament.John Henry Steenhuisen (born 25 March 1976) is a South African politician who has been serving as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly since October 2019 and the interim Federal Leader of the Democratic Alliance since November 2019. He previously served as the Chief Whip of the Official Opposition under the leadership of Mmusi Maimane from May 2014 to October 2019. He has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly since July 2011. Before he was appointed to parliament, he was active in the provincial politics of KwaZulu-Natal, serving as both the Provincial Leader of the DA and the leader of the party's caucus in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature. Ideologically, Steenhuisen describes himself as a liberal and a supporter of non-racialism.Otta Helene Maree (née Zille; born 9 March 1951), known as Helen Zille, is a South African politician. She has served as the Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance since 20 October 2019. From 2009 until 2019, she was the Premier of the Western Cape province for two five-year terms, and a member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. She served as Federal Leader of the Democratic Alliance from 2007 to 2015 and as Mayor of Cape Town from 2006 to 2009. According to my South-African family in Cape Town, White South-Africans, Helen Zille, was an excellent Mayor of Cape Town. Unfortunately to short. In South-Africa English was the most easy communication tool, but with some effort I could communicate with the Afrikaans speaking White and Coloured people over there. To be honest the Afrikaner/Old Dutch atmsophere and the British colonial elements made Cape Town close to my own European culture. The same I had with New York, because that city has a lot of Dutch, British Victorian, and American English (Pieter was raised with the British English and American culture and language -cinema, tv series, sitcoms, literature, magazines and News Papers, National Geographic and etc.). From one side I saw the Alien Black African Xsosa Township culture, and the Black, Cape Malayan, Coloured, South-African Jewish, Lebanese and Pakistani and other European (Greek, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian) cultures which were alien to me, and from the other side I saw the old British Colonial and the Calvinist Dutch Reformed Protestant Christian Afrikaner culture in Cape Town (Kaapstad).
Cape Town is a clearly post colonial, Post-Apartheid, racialist, city and society with First World, Second World and Third World elements. The Second World is a term used during the Cold War for the industrial socialist states that were under the influence of the Soviet Union. The Second World element is the Marxist, Communist and socialist elements in the South-African politics of the 400 seats in total, while the Economic Freedom Fighters with their Marxism–Leninist, Left-wing populist, Pan-Africanist, Anti-capitalist, Anti-imperialist and Anti-white racist agenda (and their own racist anti-White "Kill the Boer" agenda_. Next to the Economic Freedom Fighters you of course also have the Marxist-Leninist South African Communist Party and the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania and probably Marxist wings in the ANC, like the militant African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) .
African National Congress Youth League
I found out the difference between the old Colonial Dutch East Indies Company Cape Dutch peoples culture and that of the Afrikaner Boers that developed in the walk of time and it reminded me of the different identities that developed between the British colonial administrators and troops in America and the British English and Scottish settlers that developed the different 'American identity' that resulted in the American revolution. I don't want to label the American Puritanical Settlers and the Afrikaner Boers as the same kind of people, but there are similarities. You could call the great journey of the White American settlers from the East-Coast, via the Midwest to the West coast as the Great Trek to California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico.
I had similar a similar (comparable) experience in the Western Cape desert and in the Californian, Arizona, Nevada and Utah deserts and prairies. The same vast land mass and space experience. But still the South African Western Cape atmosphere and the West Coast American atmosphere is different. America and Africa are different continents. South-Africa brought Africa to my heart. Cape Town memories are ingrained in me. Despite the sad, gruesome, dark and heavy elements of Cape Town and South Africa the city, Western Cape Province and South Africa are a wonderful city, Province and country with wonderful and remarkable people. People who manage to survive, who struggle to survive, but also people who are fond of and love their country and city.
Cheers, Pieter

South Africa: 'Black Monday' protesters call for Trump to intervene in farm murders
29 okt. 2018
Protesters marched in the South African city of Pretoria on Monday as part of a nationwide series of protests against farm murders that organisers have dubbed 'Black Monday.'
Participants marched with banners calling for an end to violence and delivered a memorandum to the US Embassy in Pretoria in which they asked for US President Donald Trump to intervene.
Valerie Byliefeldt, who helped organise the event, also extended a verbal invitation to the President, saying "Mr Donald Trump, I would very much like you to come to South Africa and to come and see for yourself that there is an ongoing slaughtering of the white minority."
Trump took to Twitter in August to say that he had asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to study South African land seizures and farm killings, in a move that was criticised as divisive and misinformed by the South African government.
According to a report released in May by Agri South Africa - the largest representative body of farmers in the country - farm murders have reached their lowest level in two decades, with 46 murders reported by South African police in 2017. The total number of murders recorded by South African police from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 were 20,366.

Hofmeyr's grandfather, Steve Hofmeyr Sr., was a leader in the Ossewabrandwag. The Ossewabrandwag (OB) (Afrikaans: Ossewabrandwag, from Afrikaans: ossewa, lit. 'ox-wagon' and Afrikaans: brandwag, lit. 'guard, picket, sentinel, sentry' - Ox-wagon Sentinel) was an anti-British and pro-German organisation in South Africa during World War II, which opposed South African participation in the war. Pro-German Afrikaners formed the Ossewabrandwag in Bloemfontein on 4 February 1939.ControversiesIn January 2007, there were reports that one branch of the News Cafe restaurant chain would not play Hofmeyr's song ”Pampoen”. The managing director of the company that owns the franchise denies that this is company policy and points out that many Afrikaans acts, such as Karen Zoid and Arno Carstens have performed at News Cafe.
On 12 May 2011, Hofmeyr released the lyrics to his new song called "Ons sal dit oorleef", which means "We will survive this". The song is controversial, because Hofmeyr threatened to include the ethnic slur "kaffir" in the lyrics of the song. Hofmeyr removed the offensive word in his song, citing that the word would offend his black friends and colleagues.
In 2011, he made public that he supports the Afrikaner advocacy group "Expedition for Afrikaner Self-Determination" (Onafhanklike Afrikaner Selfbeskikkingsekspedisie, OASE).Onafhanklike Afrikaner SelfbeskikkingsekspedisieHofmeyr was heavily criticised after performing the former South African national anthem, Die Stem, at a cultural festival known as Innibos in Nelspruit in July 2014. He went on to perform the anthem on international tours, and encouraged white South Africans to continue singing it, stating that it did not contain any form of hate speech.
In October 2014, Hofmeyr wrote and published a tweet stating that he believed that black South Africans were the "architects of apartheid" on his public Twitter account. This prompted a significant public backlash. One of Hofmeyr's critics was puppeteer Conrad Koch through his puppet Chester Missing, who launched a campaign calling on companies to stop sponsoring Hofmeyr. On 27 November 2014, Hofmeyr failed to acquire a final protection order against Koch and his puppet in the Randburg Magistrate's Court.Conrad Koch with his his puppet Chester MissingHofmeyr has given statements indicative of apartheid denialism, leading various journalists and political analysts to label him a "disgrace to South Africa".Claims about murders of white South AfricansHofmeyr has made numerous claims relating to murders of white South Africans. Hofmeyr has claimed that whites, and in particular Afrikaners, are being "killed like flies", posting on Facebook that "my tribe is dying". Hofmeyr also posted a picture of a "World Cup soccer stadium" which he claimed could be filled by the number of whites murdered by blacks. However, Africa Check, a fact-checking organisation has found Hofmeyr's claims to be "incorrect and grossly exaggerated" - pointing out that whites are in fact "less likely to be murdered than any other race group". Lizette Lancaster from the Institute for Security Studies told Africa Check that "Whites are far less likely to be murdered than their black or coloured counterparts." While white South Africans account for nearly 9% of the population they account for just 1.8% of murder victims. During May 2018, The minister of Police, Mr Bheki Cele released farm attack statistics for the first time in years.Removal from MultiChoice networksOn 30 April 2019, all content with Hofmeyr was removed from all MultiChoice networks, most notably DStv. In response, Hofmeyr called for a boycott of Multichoice, calling for fans to destroy their DStv boxes.
