Karl should be happy that he is not in Portland anymore since Oregon is in lots of distress now - first due to the protests in Portland, second terrible fires that killed several people in California and Oregon. Even in Idaho sky is dusty because of these fires. In San Francisco sky was so red that it looked like sunset for the whole day, not even taking into account problems with breathing it brings. People feel like it is a doomsday

What a disaster of all those fires, it is over the news here and we watch with disbelieve of such a thing.. I do trust and trfope you and family are spared of such fires in your area. I do remember the large areas of tall dead grass from Northern Cal. to the South on the highway of I-5 and wondered about the fire hazard.
We have also heard of the vast numbers of fires in Oregon as well. Portland I do remember as an older city from my travels there for business reasons. I was impressed at that time of the dynamics of the city centre and the port area. Now of course with the smoke and related bad air quality is so bad and yes, I would not want on my own to visit the city for some time.
We have heard from the news of the area of some many fire related deaths and of course the fire related property damage.
