FIND MORE RESOURCES AT: bit.ly/32voKpY For the first time in history, mental illness and suicide have become one of the greatest threats to school-aged children. Many parents still view dangers as primarily physical and external, but they’re missing the real danger: kids spending more time online and less time engaging in real life, free play, and autonomy. What are the effects on the next generation's mental, physical, and spiritual health? Childhood was more or less unchanged for millennia, but this is CHILDHOOD 2.0. Folks,
At the end of the nineties and early this century I remembered science ethical, philosophical and sociologic discussions between scientific ethical thinkers, philosophers and research journalists about the borders of Gen technology, nanotechnology, clone technology and robotica. Artificial Intelligence was part of that discussion. Deep learning, machine learning were not general known back then. Today were are in a different stage of technology, advancement, super computers connected to super computers and the power of Google, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and other organisations. The combined power of algorithms, super computer networks, advertisement, marketing goals, business interests of Google, Facebook and Twitter keeps people addicted to their Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Google (search), e-mail (gmail) and etc.
Cheers, Pieter

Peter-Paul Verbeek (1970) is distinguished professor of philosophy of technology at the Department of Philosophy and co-director of the DesignLab at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. He is also honorary professor of Techno-Anthropology at Aalborg University. If you connect the power of Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube chanals and robotics, nanotechnology, addictive computer games, and the growing power of large governments and corporations we live in a scary world in which we are losing privacy, individuality, humanity and autonomy very fast. People have no idea how much companies and the authorities know about them already today in November 2020.
217K abonnees CRISPR gene-editing technology is advancing quickly. What can it do now—and in the future?
The revolutionary gene-editing tool known as CRISPR can alter, add, and remove genes from the human genome. The implications are immense: It could help eliminate illnesses like sickle cell disease and muscular dystrophy, and could even allow us to alter the genes of future generations of humans, leading to so-called designer babies. But will this ever really happen?
Medical journalist and pediatrician Alok Patel investigates the current state of CRISPR—starting with a bull calf named Cosmo. Patel discovers how scientists edited Cosmo’s genome so he would produce more male offspring, and what that means for humans. In conversation with scientists, artists, and ethicists, Patel explores what kind of gene editing is actually possible right now—and what we should be thinking about when we consider manipulating human traits and, ultimately, the human experience.

Quite a video, Pieter. I don't see things like that, I happily just don't attract the whacko constructs that are developing. I look upon Fox News in America and Rush Limbauch as the two original sources of this now aging but grandparents of the current generation of false news.
There were always these people, but they were few and looked upon as the whacko fringe, to such a degree that even Barry Goldwater warned us of them! Today that extreme right winger from 1964 would be looked upon as a left wing, satan stained fellow by today's right wing. With Fox, Limbauch and many others I see a selfish profit motive tearing our society apart. With the new generations coming into full swing, I can't guess where we will end up or how the young people today will perceive or discern the truth.

It is as what is, rather be it a social dilemma or acceptance of technology. For what ever man {species not gender} dreams, he will build. Rather be it Artificial Intelligence, Genetic Engineering various fields of Technology, all to fill a need. For as it appears, as we progress, we also in this manner, require more specific fulfilments to meet new issues that are a result of progress. This is provided through the process and application of new Technology as created by need, engineering of both new processes and use of new information as it comes available.
Our society as it is, is not static, but ever so evolving. With this, is our responsibility as a people, to insure the correct direction so as to avoid mistakes. In some manner, to learn from the past, not the mistakes, but the successes to then build better for a blue print to the future.
There are those that even as in leadership, appear to be motivated by some internal fear in the place of success. For what ever a person sees in them selves, so they will be.

Ron/Karl,
Do you think that it is technically possible that human beings could be side lined, bypassed or replaced by artificial, synthetically designed and build humanoids, which are machines with human features, but without human brains, brains, minds, souls, hearts, lungs -mammal beings-, dna 🧬 (genes) and history.
Or do you believe or can you imagine that in the future human beings merge with robotics, digital technology, nanotechnology (for instance nanoskins or medical nanocells), gentechnology and clone technology, that we will merge with our computers and become part of the internet in a natural proces?
The question is how far will science, technology and thus progression go? Will we live in a hydrogen, solar and electric driven economy without petrol, oil, gas and Diesel fuels?
Cheers, Pieter

The Social Dilemma according to the English Wikipedia is a 2020 American docudrama film directed by Jeff Orlowski and written by Orlowski, Davis Coombe, and Vickie Curtis. The film explores the rise of social media and the damage it has caused to society, focusing on its exploitation of its users for financial gain through surveillance capitalism and data mining, how its design is meant to nurture an addiction, its use in politics, its effect on mental health (including the mental health of adolescents and rising teen suicide rates), and its role in spreading conspiracy theories such as Pizzagate and aiding groups such as flat-earthers.
The film features interviews with many individuals who give first-hand experiences of working in and around the tech industry. Interviewees state that the existence of social media platforms and big tech has been instrumental in providing positive change for society, however, some decisions and paradigms have caused consequences that are problematic. Throughout the documentary, many former employees, executives and other professionals from top tech, social media, and research backgrounds give their input on the problems that can be found on a variety of online platforms. These interviews are cut together with dramatizations which tell the story of a teenager’s social media addiction interlaced with a representation of how a social media algorithm powered by artificial intelligence may work.
The Social Dilemma premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and was released on Netflix on September 9, 2020.
