Pieter, even American mass media informed about the violende in Netherlands. What is it about? These people don't look like immigrants. Is it that they just don't want to stay home anymore. It is so disturbing to watch what is going on in the world suddenly...

It is complicated Jaga. There is a lot of tension in the Dutch society after a year of Covid 19. These violent rioters, looters and attackers are a group with a large variety inside it's ranks. Unemployed people, fishermen, Conspiracy thinkers, frustrated instable people, some far right elements, next to that migrant youth. But in the same time you see some Hooligans who want to act as a militia or civil guard who want to protect their city and want to collaborate with the local police. Due to the prohibition to be outside from 21:00 hours until 4:30 in the morning the police is somewhat reluctant to accept the help of the Hooligans whom most often were their rivals in maintaining public order. The authorities fear for 'civilians against civilians' cases. Fact is that the disturbances took place both the crowded large Urbanistic West of the country and the rural area's. In cities, towns and villages. The Dutch parliament was debating this afternoon if the army must be called in. www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/01/no-need-to-bring-in-army-to-quell-riots-rutte-tells-mps-during-debate/www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/01/arrests-in-rotterdam-and-football-supporters-offer-to-keep-the-peace/Cheers, Pieter

The shop owner Maaike Neuféglise was crying on the Dutch national tv in her smashed and looted shop. She said she found blood on the floor of her shop alongside upturned stands and damaged equipment. Look inside this BBC link for the video:www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-55810229Hard working shop owners who struggle to survive saw their shops looted and are in schock and full of rage.

Pieter
It is such shame of those criminal idiots to tear up her shop with looting as shown. These people are providers of services and products for shoppers to draw upon for their needs.
Such a shame for no good reason other then stealing.

This Wikipedia link excellently describes the situation in the Netherlands; en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Dutch_curfew_riotsOn the 26th of january, many cities saw massive support coming from their locals. Cities such as Maastricht, saw its hardcore fanbase of its local football club, the angel side, gather as a reaction to the threats made by supposed rioters. A couple hundred supporters marched through the city, eventually making their way to the city center to make a statement: "we will not tolerate destruction and looting". Most of them went home around 21.00 to adhere to the curfew rules.

Pieter, the protests look terrible. Thanks for the updates. It looks that every country has its own bad problem now. In Poland we have series of protests due to implementation of the abortion laws. In EU countries there is not enough vaccinations. In the US we have a Trump and conspiracy theories problems.
