Dear friends,
After the Dutch Social Democrats of the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA) the Christian Democrats of the CDA party got a huge blow. Of the 3 traditional large centrist political parties of the moderate Centre (Centre left, Centre and Centre right), only the VVD is still large. But also the VVD could get huge blows in the coming March 2022 Muncipality (local) elections, next to the National parliamentary and the Provincial elections (regional elections) one of the most important Dutch elections. More important for the Dutch than the European elections or Referendums. Because these 3 elections are about power, legislation. and rule inside the Netherlands.
You could add this thread to John’s statement in the other thread; “ This is the way the political bodies of the world are operating today!”
The old power networks of The Hague (the Washington D.C. of the Netherlands), the political party elites, the nomenklatura (category of people within the Large Political Parties who held various key administrative positions in the bureaucracy, running all spheres of the state ministries/departments, regional Provincial bodies and muncipality city councils': government, industry (politicians with corporate positions in the Capitalist sense), agriculture, Real estate (Project Development), multinationals and education sectors, etc, and on lower levels the party apparatchiks, people who held any position of bureaucratic or political responsibility inside the political parties or in muncipalities, regional provincial bodies (Gedeputeerde Staten) and state bodies (States General, the ministries and departments). The Civil servants with a political Colour (Red, Green, Blue or Orange) who often held positions of power and influence independently of the Colour of the Government coalition. In government coalition cabinets you can find opposition civil servants of opposition parties. That is quite different than in countries like the Russian Federation, Poland, Hungary or Turkey.
Cheers,
Pieter
