Pieter, Karl, Kai, John and all, do you watch olympic games in Japan? I watch some, but American TV focus too much just on American teams, so watching telemundo gives a bit more insight. Polish team so far does not do that great, but they got an important gold medal on 400 rely for men and women. Interesting and new competition allowing men and women to run together in relay kfgo.com/2021/07/31/olympics-athletics-poland-win-first-4x400m-mixed-relay-gold/Olympics-Athletics-Poland win first 4x400m mixed relay gold TOKYO (Reuters) – Poland scored an upset win in the inaugural Olympic 4×400 metres mixed relay on Saturday, with Dominican Republic picking up silver and the United States winning bronze. The Polish team, comprised of Karol Zalewski, Natalia Kaczmarek, Justyna Swiety-Ersetic and Kajetan Duszynski, put on a gutsy performance inside the fan-free Olympic Stadium after posting the fastest time in Friday’s heats. It was the first Olympic medal for all four team mates, who cheered and embraced as anchor leg runner Duszynski crossed the finish line in a time of three minutes 9.87 seconds. The U.S. were the favourites after winning the event at the 2019 World Championships but almost did not make the final after they were disqualified for exchanging the baton outside the changeover zone in Friday’s first round. Organisers later reinstated them, citing an official’s error.

Jaga,
Yes, we Dutch watch the Olympic games and a lot of Dutch sporters participate in it. The Orange teams. It is on tv day and night on both the Public and Commercial TV chanals, radio stations and on their websites. The Dutch are not on the top of their abilities this time. We had a few Silvers and Bronzes but few Gold medals.
Our Field Hockey women belong to the top teams of the world.
Cheers, Pieter

Pieter, I am unable to see these videos, but congratulations to the team from Netherlands. You are doing better than Polish team right now. I think they made it almost impossible to send videos to other people from different countries anymore. There are so many touching events in the olympic games, and this should be not just about one country ...
Karl, I don't watch Olympic games all the time, I just see what is reported as the most important. There is a life and work outside watching the games. Still, it is good that we have games.

Pieter, Karl, Kai, John and all, do you watch olympic games in Japan? I watch some, but American TV focus too much just on American teams, so watching telemundo gives a bit more insight. Jaga, I am traveling for 3 weeks, 2 weeks remaining, and keeping very busy visiting with family and friends, so have neglected internet and watching the olympics. Somehow they did not get me excited this year, and when I did try tuning in a few times I more often got advertizements than competition, and immediately moved on to other things. I also still carry my distain for the nationalistic broadcasting of the competitions. OK, it is fine to broadcast primarily national events, that is quite normal and proper. But when there is an extraordinary performance by a foreign team, the normal broadcasts should make space to broadcast that great competition! Well, I have never had a normal perspective on 'sports'. Even in high school I thought the priorities are wrong, that instead of concentrating so much money and efforts on some small, exclusive team sports, the athletics program should primarily be directed toward developing participation sports for the masses, engendering a love of sport and activity that the majority of people could continue throughout their adult life. Today that seems as foreign a concept as it was many decades ago. Kai
