Dear Pieter and Jaga
This is a thank you to you both for your fine coverage of this time in the political life of Angela Merkel as the final hours of her time as Chancellor is closing after 16 years of National Service. Realizing of my self to have in past criticized her for being of the mindset of her former DDR time, I still stand by my words of that time. But, this means not that my respect for her has not nor been absent. For in such a responsibility of such a trying position as Chancellor a person as even Angela Merkel has not the option to be absolute at all times.
Through time and age, Germany is losing a favourite leader that will be remembered for many many years, and in this manner, she has earnt her place in the hearts of many, and will be sorely missed.
I still think Nina Hagen is some what crazy, but it was fine to sing that crazy song of:" You forgot the Colour film", there was a time colour film was indeed very expensive and rare.
Karl

In 1975 Nina Hagen went from the Communist East-German German Democratic Republic (GDR) to Czechoslovakia as an East-German singer. She was the guest in a Czech TV show in a theatre:

The military farewell is in the military tradition of Germany which goes back to the Prussian area of the 19th century. Well done in a German disciplined manner, with a German military music corps, songs Merkel like and which visibly moved her. It was an emotional and official farewell for her. Now she will be Chancellor for a few more days before her term ends. I wonder what she will do now. Being a adviser to her CDU party, accepting her role as eminence grice behind the curtains in staid of being in the spotlights of the German and international press. With her experience, diplomatic talents, power and influence. Maybe it will be good for her to be released of the pressure.

Pieter, she reminds me a bit of the atmosphere of the film "Cabaret" that also took place in Berlin. I am glad that Nina was able to find herself in Czech Republic and in Poland (apparently she escaped there first and was working with Sipowicz (recently Kora's - from Manaam husband) and later joined the rock punks in the western Europe

The Western German Punk Rock diva Nina Hagen, whom was and is like Karl stated a bit weird, crazy and excentric. She combined her Opera trained voice with German Punk music. Great voice, great singer, comedian and crazy as a door nale.
