Mark is a son of Zbigniew Brzezinski and a brother of Mika Brzezinski and he also speaks Polish pretty well. I think that his announcement for US ambassador in Poland helped Polish free media, since pres. Duda did not want to provoke America and he vetoed it.
Here is more from his swearing ceremony:

Jaga,
I hope that (born April 7, 1965) will be a sophisticated diplomat in Poland and will be beneficiary for the bilateral ties between the USA and Poland 🇵🇱. His Polish roots and knowledge of Polish language will ease the communication. He will be probably good for US-Polish trade ties, cultural connections. Polish Foreign Affairs aims (with US support), NATO ties, Polish-American coordination in the Polish-Belarus border situation, the Baltic borders with Belarus en the Russian Federation, joint efforts to stabilize the situation in Ukraine and a strong Transatlantic Orientation of Poland could be achieved in his term as ambassador. Tensions between the liberal American administration and diplomats and the more National Conservative Polish administration and diplomats may occur, but on the long term mutual interests will be stronger than the differences of opinion.Mark BrzezinskiMark Brzezinski is the son of the Polish-born former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski and Emilie Benes Brzezinski, and the grandson of Polish diplomat Tadeusz Brzeziński. Hello Pieter, thanks for the introduction. Mark Brzezinski was also in Poland for a couple of years paid by Fullbright stipend, this is how he learned Polish better. Polish mass media were very excited when he came to Poland. There is a feeling that he might have a power and will to change and improve Polish-American relationship
