Poland seem to be in the headlines of the world press now, mainly for good reasons, but sometimes for questionable reasons. Below is a link to the article from WashintonPost main website: www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/04/13/poland-refugees-wall-belarus/Poland builds a border wall, even as it welcomes Ukrainian refugeesMICHALOWO, Poland — Her impulse was to welcome people in desperation, so Maria Ancipiuk made sure her border town was ready. As immigrants mostly from the Middle East started streaming into Poland last year from Belarus, she lobbied the mayor to offer up two empty town-owned apartments for anybody who might need them. Volunteers changed the wallpaper and renovated the flooring. Ancipiuk bought a refrigerator and a television. Are you on Telegram? Subscribe to our channel for the latest updates on Russia's war in Ukraine. Five months later, though, the apartments are empty. Rather than being welcomed into Polish homes, the vast majority of people crossing from Belarus are being detained or pushed back by Polish authorities. That stance, in effect just to the north of Poland’s border with Ukraine, means two different groups seeking the same thing — refuge — are arriving to find what amounts to two different versions of Europe. Along one segment of Poland’s border, where 2.5 million Ukrainians have fled, border agents help carry duffel bags, push wheelchairs, hold tired children and escort to safety refugees who’ve been granted automatic European Union residency for up to three years.

Folks,
It is simply Ukrainians are white Caucasian Christian Europeans. A lot of them are Slavic people with blond hair and blue eyes, or green eyes, or they are white brunette people or white people with black hair like Southern Europeans. They are not Afghans, not Pakistani’s, not Persian Iranians, not Iraqi Kurds, nor Middle Eastern Muslim Arabs, North African Berbers from Morocco, Algeria, Tunesia or Libiya and also not Black African migrants. To say it bluntly that is the reason. Europeans see them as fellow white Europeans with a Christian background.
They are not black Christian’s, not non-Western Muslims, they are seen as ‘New Westerners’ for some reason.
That’s the case. I had to say this even though it might be not political correct in the so called Woke or Multicultural liberal and Democratic West.

And maybe Poland which has a demographic problem with aging hopes to assimilate and integrate the Ukrainians as New Poles with 2 passports and a a dual Slav identity. Eastern-Slavs living in a Western Slavic country. Poland is great in helping the Ukrainians. There are about 2.6 million Ukrainians in Poland. The largest group of Ukrainian refugees in Europe.

Pieter, i think that this article tries to be objective but it is not. Ukrainians are in dire need, while people from Middle East were offered by Belarus a way to escape to the West as a revenge for the west.
here is a good reply to the article:
This article bends facts and borders on doublespeak in a vain attempt to equate apples to oranges. Ukrainians are fleeing a war thrust on them by a massive, major power -- one that has been documented as committing war crimes and atrocities against civilians. It's clear that they have no plans to remain in Poland or in the other European nations they have fled to: they are fleeing from bloodshed and near-certain death.
This doesn't apply to any Middle Eastern immigrants from Syria or Yemen who have already reached sanctuary in Belarus. These immigrants want to continue migrating to Western Europe because they feel that will offer greater opportunities than they have in that country. They might not feel welcome in Belarus, but they aren't fleeing genocide there, either.

Jaga,
I stick to my conclusion for the whole of Europe. That what can not be said. In the same time I believe your statement and reply bares some truth. Belarus invited them and thus has to take care of these refugees. That they want to push them into Poland is not Poland's nor the EU's problem. Belarus shouldn't have imported them with the intend to export them to the EU in the first place. That Polamd builds a border wall is understandable, because Poland and the EU do not want the 'Belarussian' refugees. Belarus invited and imported them and thus should take care of them. The Middle Easterners who took the Belarus route knew where they were traveling too and thus have also responsibility for their own fate as well.
That said the world, the UN, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the European Council (the EU), the European parliament, foreign diplomats of Western countries, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Civil Rights Defenders, Human Rights Without Frontiers International, Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), UN Watch, the European Centre for Minority Issues, The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR), the Minority Group International (MRG), and the International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) should monitor the situation in Belarus, at the Polish Border with Belarus, in Ukraine, inside the Russian Federation and Syria, Iraq and Jemen very well today.
It is a fact that on each continent, within each religious, cultural, social or ethnic group people tend to help other people of the same ethnicity, culture, social background and faith earlier. Muslims help muslims, Christians help Christians, Jews help jews, Hindu's help Hindu's, Buddhists Buddhists and etc. In the same time good people of ewery faith help other people of other faiths in need.
Cheers, Pieter

Jaga My self do very well understand this situation with Poland and refugees. In past, I did present a simular situation of preference of refugees from Ukraine over the Islamic in Denmark as described in the following url: www.hrw.org/news/2022/03/16/denmarks-mismatched-treatment-syrian-and-ukrainian-refugees#For as speculation, I do not believe this is a race issue, but a matter of accommodation. For in past to present, many of the Syrian refugees have not made a noticeable effort in assimilation in to Danish society as contributing working people, but have in this stead, stayed for what ever reason, on the welfare status rolls. For as my self, I do hold a dual citizenship as Danish, and personally am not happy with the above situation with the Syrians. For personally, I do feel there are some alternatives that could be explored to accommodate both the Syrians who are in Denmark and the Ukrainians both. Karl
