TagesschauShe is the icon of the global climate movement. At the age of 15, she started striking for more climate protection in Stockholm. Now she pleads for Germany to keep its nuclear power plants running longer: "If we have them already running, I feel that it's a mistake to close them down in order to focus on coal," says Greta Thunberg, now 19, in a personal interview. "The Climate Book" by Greta Thunberg will be published on 27 October 2022.

Pieter
Although myself am not a friend of Ms. Thunberg but do agree with her in this situation. For at present and for the foundation of the future, yes, nuclear power is an excellent manner of energy production if we are only speaking of electrical power. For though to use the advantage of nuclear power generation is a very expensive situation of designing and construction of these units. For this dream of green energy is simply nonsense sold to our governments for replacement of earth gas and petroleum.
Solar and wind is good as an axillary power source, but not as a primary source of electrical power for the inconsistent of the source as drawn from. In as well as a changeover to all electric transportation vehicles such as battery powered cars and transport trucks, for the battery technology has not caught up yet to surpass the petrol fueled vehicles. There of course are the countless arguments for the sake of climate change to quickly do the switch over to all electric until the nasty side of reality kicks in and then silence.
It is a fact of nature, that man holds no power to control mother nature for as that old South African man once said to a young white man, " you can hold out your hand, but you will never stop the wind".

Pieter, I agree with Greta and Karl. Germany is running on petroleum fuel and gas now, but they have a nuclear power they need to keep on running. It is just a green movement in Germany that is so adamantly anti-nuclear....
