Yesterday one of the biggest news in the US was the information about a plot of overthrow German government. It looked a bit like Trump's coup plot on January 6th.
I noticed that this info did not make the same big news in Poland, but it was also reported. Here are some details.

Who is Heinrich XIII, the self-styled prince at the heart of the far-right coup plot in Germany?
It sounds like a rejected script for a James Bond movie. An obscure German aristocrat with a historic royal title plans to overthrow the government in a violent coup, freeing it from the supposed tyranny of the deep state.
But that is, German prosecutors say, exactly what the self-styled Heinrich XIII Prince of Reuss was doing until he was arrested along with 24 alleged far-right co-conspirators Wednesday as part of the largest police counterterrorism operation in German history.
Little is known of the terrorist group that, prosecutors alleged, had access to weapons and training, had recruited from the armed forces and the police and had drawn up detailed plans to install a new government.
The group, part of the Reichsbürger, or Reich Citizens, movement, which rejects the legitimacy of the German state after Kaiser Wilhelm II stood down in 1918, was planning to install Heinrich as the new head of state, authorities say.
Pictures showed him being led away in handcuffs Wednesday by police officers in balaclavas as his and his fellow plotters’ hopes were dashed.

Heinrich XIII. Prinz ReußHeinrich XIII Prince Reuss (born 4 December 1951; German: Heinrich XIII. Prinz Reuß) is a German aristocrat, businessman and far-right activist. Reuss was arrested by German federal police in December 2022 due to his alleged leadership in the 2022 Germany coup d'état plot.BiographyHe was born in Büdingen on 4 December 1951 to Prince Heinrich I Reuss of Köstritz and Duchess Woizlawa Feodora of Mecklenburg, who was in turn the only child of the German colonial politician Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg.
The House of Reuss, from which Reuss is descended, dates to the 12th century and historically administered the regions of Gera and Greiz. Heinrich distanced himself from his family around 2009.
Reuss worked as a real estate developer, operating a company named Buero Prinz Reuss in Frankfurt, and also produced sparkling wine. In 2017 he supported the reinterment of the remains of a number of his ancestors, most prominent among them Henry II, Count of Reuss-Gera, in their original location. Their sarcophagi had been moved repeatedly since the church where they were entombed was destroyed in a fire in 1780.
In 2020, Reuss participated in the celebration of the first International Day of Conscience event in Vienna.Conspiracy theories and controversyReuss has spoken in favour of low flat tax for all citizens, hailing the 10 percent rate in the former Principality of Reuss, saying it let Reuss's citizens lead "happy lives" because it was "straightforward and transparent". Reuss contended that the modern German government and European Union were more distant and inaccessible than feudal princes. Reuss also gave speeches containing claims that Germany had been a vassal state since the Second World War. At World Web Forum in Switzerland in 2019 Reuss gave a speech accusing the Rothschilds and Freemasons for the wars of the twentieth century.
In August 2022, after he appeared at a party held in honor of a German politician sympathetic to the Reichsbürger movement and who was accused of assaulting a journalist, the current head of the Reuss family, Prince Heinrich XIV, called Heinrich XIII a "distant relative" and "a confused man peddling in conspiracy theories".Involvement in 2022 German coup plotThe hunting lodge in Thuringia owned by Reuss where meetings regarding the coup were allegedly held and weapons stockpiledOn 7 December 2022, Reuss was arrested at his home in the Westend of Frankfurt during a wide-ranging set of German police raids against alleged far-right conspirators in a planned coup d'état. According to police, the coup's conspirators—which included former Bundestag member Birgit Malsack-Winkemann—were proponents of the Reichsbürger movement who hoped to install the 71-year-old Reuss as head of state. Reuss' estate in Thuringia allegedly was the site of weapons stockpiles and meetings regarding the conspiracy.
Reuss is also reported to have reached out to the Russian government via its embassy in Berlin, presumably for assistance in the coup. A Russian citizen named "Vitalia", who allegedly was Reuss' honeypot and through whom he was able to secure interim financing from three Russian individuals, was also arrested. The new Reich allegedly planned to cooperate with Russia, but a spokesperson from the Russian Embassy in Berlin denied any involvement. Dmitry Peskov issued a statement on 8 December denying the Kremlin's involvement in the failed coup d'état.Heinrich was arrested in Frankfurt on Wednesday. He hoped to become the new German head of state, according to justice. Image APReferencesWikimedia Commons has media related to Heinrich XIII. Prinz Reuß. Fahey, Ryan (7 December 2022). 2022 Germany coup d'état plotOn 7 December 2022, 25 members of a far-right terrorist group were arrested for allegedly planning a coup d'état in Germany. The group, called "Patriotic Union" (German: Patriotische Union) which was led by a "Council" (German: Rat), is a German far-right extremist Reichsbürger movement. The group aim to reestablish a monarchist government in Germany in the tradition of the German Reich, with the government being similar to the German Empire. The group allegedly wanted to provoke chaos and a civil war in Germany in order for it to take power.
Over 3,000 police and special forces searched 130 locations throughout Germany and made several arrests, including Heinrich Prinz Reuss, a descendant of the House of Reuß, as well as former Alternative for Germany (AfD) MP Birgit Malsack-Winkemann. The group also included active military and police personnel. The operation against the group is considered to be the largest in Germany's history, and the Public Prosecutor General Peter Frank declared the group to be a terrorist organization.MembersProsecutors reported that approximately more than 50 organisers were Reichsbürger movement members, a cluster of far-right groups which reject the current liberal democratic basic order of Germany and are associated with violence and antisemitism. The plotters reportedly included QAnon followers and COVID-19 deniers. The group was divided into areas of responsibility. The Federal Public Prosecutor has 52 suspects and arrested 25 of them.
The group also included several former members of the Special Forces Command (KSK), including a former Staff Sergeant of the Paratrooper Battalion of the Bundeswehr, Rüdiger von Pescatore. The GSG9 searched a KSK site of the Graf Zeppelin Barracks near Calw. Rüdiger von Pescatore was supposed to lead the "military arm" of the group. The Federal Public Prosecutor describes von Pescatore alongside Heinrich Prinz Reuss as a "ringleader". Von Pescatore is said to have tried to recruit police officers and soldiers. Members also included a former Oberst Maximilian Eder, former criminal police officer Michael Fritsch from Hanover a former Oberst Peter Wörner from Bayreuth, who started a business for survival training, a lawyer Tim Paul Gorgas from Hanover and a surgeon Melanie Ritter from Lower Saxony.
Malsack-Winkemann, a lawyer and judge in the state of Berlin, is said to have been designated as the future "minister of justice". She was a member of the German Bundestag from 2017 to 2021 for the AfD and was arrested on 7 December 2022. The group included at least one other AfD politician, Christian Wendler, an AfD former Stadtrat (local councillor) from Olbernhau in the Saxon Ore Mountains.
According to Der Spiegel, the "Patriotic Union" group had "an unusual amount of money" with which they had bought weapons as well as satellite phones. One of the properties raided by the police, hunting lodge Waidmannsheil in Bad Lobenstein, which belongs to alleged ringleader Reuss, serves as the business address for several companies linked to the London-based asset management firm Heinrich XIII. Prinz Reuß & Anderson & Peters Ltd.Ideology and aimsThe alleged aim of the group was to establish a monarchic government similar to the German Empire of 1871 to 1918. Since November 2021, the network is alleged to have been planning an armed attack on the Bundestag, as well as public arrests of politicians to cause public unrest. The "Patriotic Union" assumed that parts of the German security authorities would then have shown solidarity with their effort, which would have led to an "overthrow" and allow the group to take power.
The group is known to be right-wing, and regularly promotes antisemitic ideology. The planned coup included a storming of the Reichstag, the German parliament building in Berlin, inspired by the January 6 United States Capitol attack from 2021.Investigations and arrestsHeinrich Prinz Reuss, who is also self-styled as Prince Heinrich XIII, was among those arrested for alleged participation in the plot.German police authorities have been investigating the group since spring 2022. The group is also made up of parts of the radicalized German Querdenken movement. Reuss was the starting point for the investigations, which ended up being carried out by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) under the name "Shadow". In addition, several state criminal investigation offices and state authorities for the protection of the constitution were involved. German authorities stated that the coup had been planned since November 2021 and would have been a violent, terroristic overthrow of the current government. Police had first learned about them in April 2022, when they arrested members of the so-called "United Patriots" who were said to have planned to abduct Karl Lauterbach, the Federal Minister of Health of Germany. In September 2022 they started with the close monitoring of 52 suspects.
Around 3,000 police officers were involved with the operations to arrest the conspirators, who mainly came from the southern German states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, but also included people in 9 other German states and in Austria and Italy. Among the people arrested were aristocrats, a former Member of Parliament, as well as former and active members of the military. "Vitalia" the Russian girlfriend of Reuss, through whom he was able to secure interim financing from three Russian individuals, was also arrested.
The new Reich planned to cooperate with Russia, but the Public Prosecutor General reported on 7 December 2022 that from what they know so far, Russia did not "react positively" to the request: a spokesperson from the Russian Embassy in Berlin later denied any involvement, and on 8 December Dmitry Peskov issued a statement denying the Kremlin's involvement in the failed coup d'état.Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Germany_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat_plot
