Folks,
For me Tina Turner was one of the most important Soul and Pop musicians of the eighties. Her hits Private Dancer, "Typical Male", "What's Love Got to Do with It", "Let's Stay Together", "Steamy Windows", "I Don't Wanna Lose You" were part of my teenage life. I heard her songs on the Radio (Dutch Veronica Top 40, and other pop music program on the Dutch Radio 3), saw her video clips on tv and with that her duets with David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Heard her songs in the car on the radio (the car being driven by others), heard her music in Dutch pubs and in discotheques (we Dutch teenagers could go out and drink beer earlier than American teenagers, from let's say 16 -today you have to be 18 in the Netherlands-).
Her songs touched me, and I recorded some of her songs on a cassette tape. She was part of my teenagers eighties music and social life (discussing music with teenage friends). She was part of our music, which was Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Queen, the Police, U2, the Simple Minds, Genesis, Roxy Music, Jimmy Hendrix, the Doors, the Rolling Stones, New Order, Eurythmics, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, the Pointer Sisters, Prince, Wendy & Lisa,m Sheila E, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Elton John, Earth, Wind & Fire, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Carly Simon, Paul Hardcastle (19), Chicago, 10cc, Womack & Womack, Johnny Cash, Elvis, The Human League, Talking Heads, Dusty Springfield & the Pet Shop Boys and Kim Wilde.
Cheers, Pieter

Pieter
What a moving and sensitive presentation of Tina Turner. She is well remembered by myself from some year past of her music, entertainer {although my pleasure of viewing her was limited} and as an actress. I was not aware of her death, but she had the opportunity to live long in 83 of years. Some of her singing was a bit wild for my taste, but that is not a reflection of this fine person.
I was to enjoy her being interviewed of her life and impressions of living in The Schweiz {Switzerland}. For her impressions range very true of the country as my memory was to recall.
Yes, America has lost a favourite daughter with Tina Turner.
