Hi everyone, My name is Mary and am almost embarassed to post my little bio here. You are all so very well educated. Not to mention well traveled. I am 55 years old and have spent all of my life in the same town where I was born and raised. A little town outside of Scranton, Pa. called Taylor. I married a local boy and have one son Joshua, age 15 who is the light of my life. I am President of our high schools PTA for 2yrs but have been actively involved in PTA since my son started school. I am an avid reader, love sci-fi and have a special interest in WWII since my dad was a vet . I recently found relatives of my fathers in Poland. They live on the same farm where my Bobci was born and raised. They are her sisters sons and their families. Since most of my immediate family in the US have passed on, I am thrilled to have found an extended family. Is anyone here familiar with the Kurpie region. I would love to get some info on it.

Hello Mary,
Welcome to the forum, I am happy that you have posted an intro. Please tell me more about your search for family (genealogy folder...)
Have you "googled" Kurpie? I think there is a lot of info on line - it is not the region where my ancestors came from but I believe it is well known.

Hi Jim I believe George (marmota) was addressing only LADIES. And, considering your photo you don't look like lady.

To Nancy and Jaga, Thank you both for your welcome. Nancy I no longer have to search for my family in Poland. We have found them and have lots of pictures and letters from them. I was just wondering if anyone here was familiar with the area. I have previously posted this on the Bella forum when you were all there. Although I don't post very often I do enjoy reading all the posts here and stop by as often as I can to catch up on everything everyone is doing. I especially enjoy looking at the pictures alot of members post.

I sport a ninth grade education, and have been in this forum for over three years. in that time I have seen them come and go. Actually though you will find that the others are really nice people. Fun too. I have never been ridiculed for my lack of education. And anybody that comes from Scranton the Home of Stanky andf the coal miners along with the Polka family are OK,in my book.. Just come in and speak your mind ,you can find a lot of help in here.. Just watch out for Leslie, he has the girls in here going GA GA over him But he is a lot of fun and a good guy

Hi, I'm new to this forum and forums in general. My name is Piotr Parylo, but I go by Bill. I'm originally from Utah but have lived in Washington, DC for the past ten years or so. I am 30 years old and I work in biological weapons and warfare research for a private agency with interests in United States defense and counter-terrorism / security policy. Recently, I have taken more interest in my family's Lemko or Rusnak heritage and the land that they came from in southern Poland. My wife Mariel and I have been married for four years. She is of English, Danish, and American Indian ancestry, but has strongly encouraged me to learn what I can about my own background. We are expecting our first child in June.
I am looking forward to learning what I can at this forum and contributing what I am able.
Bill Parylo

Dear Mr. Parylo
It would seem that my self alone at the moment will welcom you! Please be confident that you have come to the right place, as you are of Polish, there are many folks here to provide you with assistance in what ever you seek.
I have high expectations that you well enjoy your self with an exchange of many levels of expertise here from very nice and knowledgeable people.
My self, I am non-Polish but of German, but, this has not been a hinderance as these people are good people.

Hi Bill I did write out a most welcoming posting a few minutes ago, but in some way I deleted it!! But welcome to the forum and we will all look forward to your postings. I am English (Polish descent a long way back) and that, as I am sure that Nancy will agree, makes me unique!! I am also sure that Bescheid will strongly disagree!! You will find times when you think that members hate each other, with their rude comments and so on - believe me we just like to have a lot of fun, and we only mean 99.9 percent of what we have said (the .1 percent remaining is usually between me and Bescheid - but we are really very friendly to each other The topics we cover are very wide ranging as you will see, so please do not hesitate in joining in. Leslie

Welcome to the forum, Bill! Enjoy visiting all of our boards, there's always a wide variety of discussions going on.
I'm currently in the process of trying to research my family's Polish background, since we know so little about it. Like you, southern Poland is the area I'm interested in for this.

Bill, Welcome! Yes, we do write about a wide-ranging spectrum of topics My interest in folk costumes originally drew me to the Forum when it was at another site. Like Suzanne, I am now trying to track down my mother's family and verify what one uncle has done on my father's family. So, come over to the Genealogy section and see what others have done ;D GM
