Sorry I have not posted before now. I do not know very much about my Polish side. My Grandparents immigrated in the early 1900. They first moved settled in Chicago for a very short time and than in Racine, WI. My grandfather was the janitor and bell ringer at St. Stans in Racine. His name was Stephan Schneider. My grangmother Hedwiga (Hattie) Szczupakiewicz came to this country with 3 children. I know that her mother and some of her siblings also joined the family in WI. There were one or two who stayed in Poland. I also know that some of the family shortened there name to Supak.
I have been told that Stephan was born in Czarnocice and Hedwega was born in Popelinio.

ladyjr1, Firstly Welcome! And secondly, have you posted on any of the Genealogical forums for the names you seek? Nancy, the moderator of this forum has some nice links and tips that can help. Though I started prior to finding the forum here, I used many of the tactics mentioned to good result, and with the information you already have, you have a nice start as well.
Good luck, and good hunting!

Bonnie Hello, and what do you know already, and what do you want to know? Zold as a village name is the Rumanian for the Hungarian Zolt. Do you know your georgraphic area of interest? Kai

Hi All,
Sorry for not responding but, life sometimes just takes over and things get put on the back burner!!
The Hungarian side of my family are from Telkibanya. That is located in the NE part of Hungary. There name is Zold. Which in Magyar means Green.
I have not had much time to be working on the Polish side lately. However, when reading "Polish Roots" I did find the correct spelling of Schneider - Szjander. This made finding my Grandmother and children possible. Still can not find my Grandfather but that will come in time.
Happy May Day!

Hi All,
It feels so good to be back here to read all the wonderful posts. I have learned so many interesting things.
I have been working on the Polish side of your family with my sister and a cousin. It makes it so much more fun than doing it by yourself.
I need to learn about Poland. I get so lost when I am looking at a map. But I am willing to learn. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Family names are Szczupakiewicz and Schneider and a ton of other spellings.
Thanks,
Bonnie

Hi, My last name is Szczupakiewicz, and I can't help feeling that since that name is not too common, we must be related somehow. I'm also doing research on my family, and I wonder if you have any more information (since it appears you've been doing this since 2006) Thank you, Rebecca

Rebecca,
would you like to contact by e-mail a lady who was trying to find more info about Szczupakiewicz? If this is a case I can send you her e-mail address to your e-mail address. Since i am a host I know e-mail addresses if everybody, but I do not want to post it in the forum.
By the way, the name Szczupakiewicz comes from szczupak which is Northern Pike in English.
