WASHINGTON -- US President George W. Bush and his top officials ran roughshod over the truth in the run-up to the Iraq war -- lying a total of 935 times, a study released Wednesday found. Bush and his then secretary of state Colin Powell made the most false statements as they sought to drum up support for the March 2003 invasion to topple Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, the study alleged. In a damning report, the Center for Public Integrity found "935 false statements by eight top administration officials that mentioned Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction, or links to Al-Qaeda, on at least 532 separate occasions." .. Cheney, for example, on August 26, 2002, in an address to the Veterans of Foreign Wars national convention, asserted: "Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. "There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us." Former CIA chief George Tenet later noted Cheney's assertions exceeded his agency's assessments at the time, the report said. In late September 2002, with a congressional vote approaching on authorizing the use of military force in Iraq, Bush insisted in a radio address that the Baghdad regime posed a global threat. "The Iraqi regime possesses biological and chemical weapons, is rebuilding the facilities to make more and, according to the British government, could launch a biological or chemical attack in as little as 45 minutes after the order is given," Bush said. from:

excuse me Jaga...evidently you do not like the current United States administration.
Whom ever becomes our next nation's President and and his/her group of staff, will you too find fault or be nick picky about all the things that they do wrong? What about past Presidents and all the things they did wrong or lied? What about "tricky Dick" or Richard Nixon? What about Ronald "Ray guns" Reagan and good ol' boy Prez. Clinton?
Let's face it-politicians are gonna lie and/or manipulate the public into believing what they want you to believe. Either you believe them or you don't. If you are really dead set against the government, then do something about it-Protest.... get a group together, hold a rally with speakers and signs, stir awareness.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

I think perhaps this is a demonstrative example of the communication circle as example.
I find no fault in presentation as by both Jaga and Joyce. For both are very correct. Jaga presented a publicated presentation, and Joyce presented a common sense reply, both in my opinion, are correct.
A very variable in communication is the spoken/written word as presented, and to this end to the person receiving of said information, is what is correctly understood.
Example: Weapons of mass destruction. What exactly is this meaning? What in your mind is a weapon of mass destruction?
Are speaking of nuclear weapons? Chemical/biological weapons? If so, are they weapons dispensed by aria delivery?
OR: A common weapons of mass destruction, very common, very inexpensive, extremely destructive, very efficient as properly used, A Machine gun..
Example of Machine Gun efficiency: One our very old war time examples of auto fire weapons using full power kalber rifle ammunition. will as designed as full automatic. Will fire a sustained fire rate of 1200 rpm. It is light weight, very portable, very accurate and very deadly...{A weapon of mass destruction}.
I do not believe your {American}government representatives are actively lying to the people they represent. What I believe is this:
People are failing to properly understand the message they are receiving as represented by the information portrayed by their elected leadership.
It is incumbent upon the individual of most any Democratic Republic, to be cognizant of the information given by their leadership, to properly understand. It is to the people to ask for clarification as to proper meaning of information.
Other wise, it is to the beholder of the receiver, to properly understand the emitted spoken/written word.
And this is not correct to be, for this is how many misunderstandings are created, many past wars have been conducted as initiated.
It is very very rare, a member of government within the confines of a democratic republic, will actively lie to the people they represent. But, some what common for the people to misconstrue, the information provided to them.

Would you also agree that the general public should not be privy to everything the government knows? That there are certain aspects concerning national security (as one example) should be held secret and that what may look later like a lie can actually be a necessary "omission" at the time  At some level we must trust those we elected, or we will no longer be a democratic society Mary |

Joyce et al, I believe I am the leader of the bad list and I welcome you and others. While I do believe that Americans were lied to by the Bush adm. I believe that the government likes to play games with the people. For example, the recent sightings of the UFOs down here in Texas, the military said that they were not performing any maneuvers in the airspace at the time. Just yesterday, the military has re-canted their story saying there were jets flying around at the time of the sightings. And the UFO sighting were jets.
Supposedly there's a video of the UFO sighting. I don't know how credible that video is. But there are plenty of other videos of UFOs captured on tape.
Now which story do you believe? Which brings up the cover ups of UFO sightings by military and supposedly the hidden UFOs on governmental property. Why doesn't the government want us to know? Because they are afraid of mass hysteria. Mass hysteria would happen if there was a cloud of germ chemicals drifting in from the west coast-how many people have gas masks?
That's a real threat.
If we people as a nation have endured the atrocity of 911 in NY & Washington, do you not think we can handle a few UFOs without going nutz?

Do you know anyone who did see any U.F.O.'s? Where and when? I am not sure if I belive in them or not. I like to hear the many stories on them. I do listen to Art Bell on radio, but some sounds off the deep end. Hard to take.

This was back in I think 1974 or 1975. Where I lived there was a large wooded hill behind our house. My husband was outside and came running in calling me out to see this strange thing. It was early evening, fairly dark. There was this disk shaped object that was "hovering" in front of the hillside. We watched it for just a few seconds more and then it just seemed to whisk away around to the other side of the hill. I will never forget it. (No I wasn't drinking) And there were others who also saw this thing. It was reported in the local newspaper as a "strange sighting by some local folks". Then there was nothing else reported on it, kind of like it was hushed up. Mary |

Why do they not want us to know anything on the U.F.O.'s? Do they think this will worry everone, and cause a panic? I have never did see any, but I think, they could be out there.
