Hi guys,
we can do our own rating system now. What about
one fish two fish red fish and blue fish no, but seriously - I changed a "new member" into a freshman and I gave a freshman green star. Any other ideas for our rating system?

Any other ideas for our rating system? It will be terrible now. People will go crazy to have better ratings, they will post like madmen, like rabied rabbits ha ha ha, to be higher than admins and moderators. Jaga, do you realise what you have done?

Hi Jaga, Just as a opinion only: I do like your rating system starting with Freshman. It is nice and should make new people feel much more relaxed. Much like the first day at school (remember?), Ha, only in this case, it would seem, we are all new people....kind of funny..
On the rating system, boy, if I possessed more experience on a situation such as this, I would at least offer a suggestion, but, due to in-experience in this matters, I just have non (suggestions)
What I can say though, is of fish. A red fish, used to be a signal of a false lead or attempt to mislead and inverstigator with false or tainted evidence or false trail, we would call this a, "Red Herring,".
What ever you guys decide though, is fine with me (speaking only for my self) as long as I can understand the language, it is just a matter of adjusting and learning the system.
Charles

pawian, I like your avatar but it brings back bad memories! Too many piwo and not sure which was "mine." Never mind forgetting my zloty! Ha ha ha ha, this picture is quite funny. The triangle is pointing upwards, while it should point downwards. Hey, it is impossible to make a mistake. Don` t you associate a triangle with your equipment? PS. What about this zloty?

Charles Charles, I respect your opinions, I think going with the fish is too risky and it could offend somebody - just like your example suggest. Die herzlichsten (wieder)Wilkommen !!!

Well,
I'll be the one to breach the topic. I must admit, that now that we are settling into our new cyber-home I wonder a bit what they mysterious Ewa will make of our old home! I have gotten one or two "newsletters" from her that were bare bones greetings, but I suspect the lady is quite busy.
May she have much success in her new home, and may we continue with our raucous times and discussions in ours!

RATING SYSTEM:
How about birds? We can chose different ones for different stereotyps: chickadees, Polish Eagles and Bald Eagles for the patriotic, ravens for the quick and smart, crow for those who have to eat their words, and magpies for those who chat to hear themselves.
It could be a lot of fun!

I think the "rating" would be along the line of number of posts:
1-199 = chickadee 200-499 = goldfinch 500-999 = robin (english or american?) 1000 - 1999 = owl, stork, eagle etc.
that sort of progression....
or maybe you guys all want to be Bald Eagles??

Thanks for the offer Nancy, but my personal taste runs to being reincarnated as a raven along with all teh old Eskimo. The raven is quite intelligent and has about 35 different calls, and while people talk about keeping warm with "northern goose down", the raven does not go south with the migrating "northern geese", it stays in the extreme cold.
In addition to being quite clever it chases the eagle and bald eagle, those eaters of carrion, away when they get in the way.
But then, perhaps Polish birds are quite appropriate on this fourm!
Kai PS about 30 eyars ago there was a mercifully short-lived television series about fictional Alaska State Troopers called "Kodiak". An Alaskan frined of ine speculated that it would have had even a shorter life if it had been named the less dramatic name of nearby "King Salmon!"

Kai,
You can be a raven, but you have to EARN that title (all over again ...)
