The 2012 Euro soccer campionships (to be held in Poland and Ukraine) are being used as the catalyst for a new-style Marshall Pland for Poland. All told, the net gain to Poland over the next 5 years should be somewhere in the region of EUR 40 billion. It is unfortunate that Poland will have to import foreign construction workers to make up for labour shortages arising out of the recent mass emigration to the British Isles (where they will be helping with the 2012 Olympics!). All this might result in a step-up in incomes and one-off inflation hikes ... not necessarily a bad thing.
