Yes, 4 eggs! ;D I wonder how they will all do - last year, three fledgings were the most that any of the nests that I watched could support. This year, in one of the German nests that I watch, there were 5 eggs.... but now there are only 3. No one is ever sure what happens, but it seems that sometimes an egg gets broken, or some infection killls the chick Oh dear, I did not mean to be so negative! May all the stork babies live long and prosper! PS. This morning I checked the Eagle Cam site, and lucked into seeing the female come back to the nest and change places with the male.

It appears that an egg is cracked and so there are now four viable eggs. ( If I am following the conversation correctly) Nancy could you confirm this for me? Mom and Dad seem rather upset .... maybe I was projecting

Yikes - I have been distracted by an eagle's nest in British Columbia ;D---sorry - I looked at the bociany site but could not tell what was happening, so I asked a question in the English forum. These bird cams can really take their toll!

The news from the storks nest is that there was an attack by an intruder - another stork - big fight that lasted about 10 minutes - one egg was lost. The other 4 seem to be OK (I think). It seems that laying 5 eggs is good insurance for being able to have 2-3 hatch.

Thanks Nancy for following up on this for me. I had no idea there could be so much drama! It also explains why Mom and Dad were so upset last night.

Either you were seeing them upset, or you were seeing the fight with the intruder

I saw the aftermath - not the actual fight. I was trying to figure out what people were saying on the discussion list (the list by the cam) but my Polish is not good enough to follow what they were saying about the incident. All I got last night was that one egg had been damaged and that there had been a thug in the nest - it makes sense now that you gave me more details - but last night I was confused. I know I should just go ahead and sign in and register....

Now that I am registered there, I forget whether or not you can read the English forum as a guest? Also the one in French or the one in Spanish ... easier than Polish.

It seems that everyone is upset to find out that this happened in the night. I hope the rest of the eggs are okay. From the fotos looks like quite a battle. What I was trying to find out is if it was a third bird that came and tried to take over the nest. Hard to tell.

Yes to your question Nancy and I think you can post too but it will appear as guest. (I could be wrong about the post part)
