Zamek Niedzica
Built on the shores of lake Czorsztynskie in 1350 by Hungarian J. Berzevici. In 1410 as part of a pledge by the Hungarians, Niedzica and the area of the Spisz was incorporated into Poland. In 1528 the owner, H. Laski sold the Niedzica holdings to the Hovaths of Palocsy. The Hovaths remodeled the castle into a renaissance style.
The Salomon family became the owners and held the castle until 1945. In 1946 Niedzica rocketed to worldwide attention when it was reveled that the newly discovered “Testament of the Incas” told of a huge fortune hidden in the castle. Tourist started flocking to the castle in search of the treasure.
It is said that the spirit of Brunhilda still inhabits the castle. An early owner sentenced the unfortunate Brunhilda to the dungeons for being quarrelsome.

The ruins of Castle Czorsztyn overlook lake Czorsztyn; built by Kazimierz the Great to guard the Polish - Hungarian trade route it. The Castle hosted several kings and queens among them Louis of Anjou of Hungary, Queen Jadwiga and Jan Kazimierz Vasa.
In the 14th c Zawisza the Black (Black Knight) held the castle. J. Baranowski extended the castle in the 16th c. In 1651 K. Napierski and S. Letowski, leaders of a peasant revolt, captured it. In 1795 the castle was struck by lightening and burnt.
In 1930 the castle was named a place of national culture and in 1994 was partially renovated and opened to the public
