My personal plans alternate between renting a car and traveling by train & cheap plane... backpack tourism, traveling light. I tested it the last few years and it works fine for me. I need a clean hotel to sleep in, otherwise I want to be on the go and am not impressed with first class... (I have been there). I would rather invest my money in experiences than in a place to sleep. Living in Alaska, you can imagine that a tent and sleeping bag are plenty good for me. On warm days I bathe in the river and on cold days boil water and mix it with cold to take a sponge bath ...
Ahh ... and maybe I will report on a few of those "dream" trips on rivers or kayaking glacier faces...
In any case it is great to see two of top ten are in Poland!

Kai Kai, if you will travel in Poland try to take trains or buses instead of airplanes. You would see much more and it would be cheaper!
