I believe that Hillary was treated cruelly, partly because she is Clinton, partly because she is a woman. It is hard to imagine any of the running white men or Obama to be treated the same way:
Please see the fragments from Salon article:
For many of these pundits, especially those who pander to a mostly white male audience, a nearly pornographic investment in Clinton's demise is nothing new. Matthews made his career as a pundit in that heady era of Clinton-bashing, the 1990s. That Hillary Clinton's political career might not have only survived his wrath but grown more fulsome on it seems to have incited him further, and Matthews has shown hyperactive zeal in his hatred for her. That leads him, often, to imagine Clinton strategy and imaginatively discredit it before it unfolds, or to offer helpful Clinton-beating tips to her opponents. Eight years ago, when Utah financial advisor Howard Ruff began taking donations to bring down Hillary -- who was not yet even a senator -- he appeared on "Hardball," where he explained to Matthews that in a battle against Hillary's nascent political power, "It's a lot easier to kill a 12-inch snake than a 12-foot cobra." Matthews helped him sharpen his weaponry: "You want to destroy the missile in its silo, which makes sense to me." The night after Iowa, Matthews went from asking Elizabeth Edwards, "Do you think your husband has a better chance of winning the nomination if you first knock Hillary out of the race?" to coaching her, "Even if Barack has to win up here [in New Hampshire], it's better to knock Hillary out because if she is knocked out, then you two can fight it out, John Edwards and Barack Obama."

To all, Barack is only half black, his dad, and his mother was white. I think she is German. So you want to give him just a half vote. Black does not make him better. Michael Dabrowski Michael, what do you mean by giving Obama a half vote?!?

Intersting statistics today on AOL. They had a straw poll and believe it or not the statistics were Clinton 52% and Obama 38%. This was not the case in earlier polls. Although these polls are not to be taken as serious...never the less it was interesting reading. Just goes to show the nature of the beast and how one is swayed by media.

To all,
I don't think either will, if given the chance, do a good job. Each have too much to pay back, to there groups. Neither has done enough in the past, to be able to do a good job now. We need someone who knows the job, not just live with a leader, or wants the job bad.

To all,
Several people want to vote for Barack, just due to his color. His color does not make him any better, or worst. With me it is not a color thing, I just want the best person to do the job.

A German, social climber. That`s a chauvinistic* joke. It reminds me of Pollack jokes told in America. Mike, do you like Pollack jokes about moronic Poles? How about cracking one or two? *nationalistic

Maybe I need to lighten up a bit too and not let myself be so bothered when a forum member scolds another for pretty much nothing.... Geezzzz....a joke, (my penance) I just can't think of one right now... sorry, Mary

Mary... you are new here so you obviously are a member here after the fact. We have a member here who helped Jaga recently reorganize the board and this was out of his own time and he did a great job of it. And the rules were to stay on topic. And, to quote Pawian, that one was just-bad tastily stupid and so I asked him to stay on topic.

As someone looking in from the outside it ceases to amaze why a country of some 300million people cannot find a decent type of candidate for the Presidency.. One looks at George Bush and say no more, how could have this guy have been elected twice.. If he wasn't President he would not have gone past being a farm hand or on welfare from his father. It seems to me that when it comes to being a candidate for the President you need to have the backing of other people and powerful organizations. From a lack luster selection of candidates I hope that H. Clinton wins, she is the best of a bad batch and she may put America back on the books, and unite the American people. I guess every country suffers this problem, just look at what has occurred in Poland!

H Clinton is one of the most divisive figures in America the past 16 years. She has NO chance to as you say, "unite the American people". Even the multitude of " cool aid" drinking democrats know this is a fact: she is divisive, not capable of uniting. But that is of little matter. She's their candidate, so it doesn't matter. She could NEVER, EVER unite the nation. Almost Half the population is repulsed by her. The other half apparently adore her. Is this a uniting figure? One of the greatest presidents of the United States was Abraham Lincoln. Back in those days, the process of picking the candidate to run for president from each party was different from it is today, but the readers digest version: he was no one's first choice. Internal ballot after ballot were cast to pick the candidate, and numerous candidates emerged first on the ballot but none with a clear majority. In the end, Lincoln was chosen because he was virtually EVERYONES SECOND choice, NOT THEIR FIRST. The "first choice" candidates were also polarizing candidates, like H. Jaga can cry crocodile tears along with H, about her phantom mistreatment and so forth, but in the end, she polarizes, not unites. She might end up being the candidate, and she might end up winning an election (few more strategic crocodile tears can go a long way), but she will be as divisive a president in the US history. After 8 years of her husband, 8 years of W, the country deserves better. After 16 years of bitter division, we need better. The million dollar question is, WHO? ?
