The strikers of the Budryk mine in Ornontowice, southern Poland, have ascended from the underground in the early morning after 46 days of protest. They have finally reached agreement with the management of the Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa, the owner of the mine.
The miners will receive a ten percent par rise, as well as one-off payment, the net value of which will amount to 1,500 Slotys. The agreement also stipulates the formation of a special commission, which will include one of the striking miners. The appointimg of the commission is aimed at dealing with the standardization of wages in mines across Poland irrespective of posts.
The strike orgainizers deem the agreement befnificial for both parties. The miners point out, however, tha their demands were only partially met. The Budryk miners have been on strike since the middle of December and are glad to be resuming work. Good for them, sorry, they had to hold out for so long, but this is a start.
What do you think on this?
