That last posting brings up a valid point: what does a person have to accomplish in order to criticize the United States on occasion, a freedom which we proudly proclaim but quickly denounce when practiced? For some that is a freedom that will never be granted. We must all be cheer leaders for whatever the US does; then all is well with these people. It hardly seems American.

Just as anyone has the right to say almost anything they want, there is no law that says the speech must be liked; nor is there a law that says, it must be heard. ;D

Further to the case, based on the precepts of the trinity church which employs Wright, one could conclude that the leader ship is racist.

Perhaps it was early in this thread where I stated that if I had been born a black man back then I would likely be dead 30 years by now, out of my reaction to discrimination. I would not have taken it peacefully! I picked up the information from random reading, so I cannot name a precise source. I didn't keep a record but thought it would add to the discussion. Was it Wright's record or Bush's deplorable service that caught your attention? I remain amazed that the liberal press never pushed his disappearing act during his service time. I remember thinking about it at the time I was in the service; I would hold nothing against those who avoided the draft and nothing against those who used the Reserves to avoid the draft; I considered all of my options, but figured that once you took that oath there was no going back. Bush did back out & disappear after taking his oath. That is unforgivable. Kai

Kai & FTB, I read it first in the Chicago Tribune www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-oped0404wrightapr03,0,92000.story The authors bio's are interesting as well: Lawrence Korb and Ian Moss are, respectively, Navy and Marine Corps veterans. They work at The Center For American Progress. Korb served as assistant secretary of Defense in the Reagan administration.

Holly, The link does not open to the selected story.
Kai, Wrights preaching has gotten more media attention lately then Bush's criminality. He is a step behind Farrakan. Wright's rhetoric and Bush's deplorable presidency deserve that they both need be removed from their respective offices. Seems like the worst possible leaders are now chosen to lead the USA. Incidentally, what are you paying for regular gas today? Think about this, when you cast a vote. Can either Obama or Mc Cain CHANGE this? If oil exploration is pursued in Alaska, will the cost of energy be less? I doubt it. What's the answer? Maybe a REAL investment by both the oil companies and the Federal government in alternatives to oil. Not likely. So get out the bicycles and horse and wagons. Start growing the oats to feed the animals and take lessons on how to install solar panels. I don't want to go to what the alternatives are. Remember "On the Beach"?
