I always liked the music from Underground Resistance from Detroit. (This was our music of halfway the ninetees. Art academy, painting, drawing)Underground Resistance (commonly abbreviated to UR) are a musical collective from Detroit, Michigan. Producing primarily Detroit techno since 1990 with a grungy four-track musical aesthetic, they are also renowned for their militant political and anti-corporate ethos. I am not sure of underground Detroit, but recognize Nirvana. But have always held and admiration for the works of David Bowie. For also of {Wir Sind Helden} of them, I am not sure of their popularity in North America.
Perhaps not to say this, but the music of David Bowie for the most part, was an extension of how I felt at the moment. For most of my working life until of recent years, have been of most personal tension to a very great extent. Some how, his {David Bowie} music appealed to my senses of the time.

You described it well, we have a mutual feeling about his music! Sometimes I have the idea, the other music (The electronic one) came after David Bowie in my life (and other great Rock and Pop musicians).
The English version is one of my favorite songs and also connected to Berlin and the triology of Berlin Bowie Albums 1) Low, 2) Lodger and 3) Heroes.
Cheers, Pieter
