Well, I took it have to admit I didn't do too badly, but that is a result of reading AND 8 years of university.
It has intrigued me enough that I'm going to administer the test to a class of university seniors that I have and see how they do. I'll let you know.

I got more than the average: You answered 26 out of 33 correctly — 78.79 %
probably thanks to the citizenship exam I had to pass some time ago
Some of the questions/answers were not clear to me

Well, I gave the exam to my senior class today, senior university students, NOT high school). 20 males and females, all due to graduate either this spring or in December. The worst was 7 correct out of 33. The best was 29 out of 33. 14 of the students scored 60% or better.
The scores broke down as follows; (Number correct - number of students with that score) 29-1 28-1 26-2 25-2 23-1 22-3 21-2 20-2 19-1 17-3 14-1 7-1

Took a break after breakfast in Ft Davis, Tx. and before heading down to the Rio Grande and Big Bend National Park. I pulled out 29 right, but wondered during the test, as the computer was changing some answers & I had to re-set them.
I am not much of a military person, but Ft Davis is quite interesting and the area beautiful, an Oasis in the American desert. Too bad we don't apply that word to our oasis. A fair part of the fort is restored, the people are friendly, and Ft Davis was largely occupied by Black US Troops to fight the iIndians during the Indian Wars. Buffaloe Soldiers was supposedly a more modern whole sale term used to describe them, one that they perhaps did not care for much at the time... but that depends upon who is writing and what they have read.
So it is off on the road, in the 40's for the first 150 miles and in the 50's along the Rio Grande.
PS> I find the test prejudiced for older people, as we have seen a lot of what is asked about, and we have had more years to hear of much more from society. So I would expect young students to do more poorly, simply because they have less life experience and know this stuff as history, not current events during their lifetimes or in their parent's lifetime.

Hi Wayne,
glad to see that you could use this test to your students! Kai, When I lived in Texas we went once as far as Big Bend NP. Now is a good time since it is still not very hot. Good to see you to travel so much!
