Pawi I am pleased to say I give you 3 marks out of 10 - tell that to your students and see if they still think the same about you!!!! Le Maitre Good. I have passed the test in Cumbrian English. In Poland the passing limit is 30%. hahahaha As for my students` feelings about my person, they are always very positive. They consider me a god..... hahahahahaha

Pawian has asked for a literal translation of the passage. I shall attempt the impossible as I think sensible people will see that to translate it, it has to be changed from the dialect. But here goes:
"Ah mind as weel as if't hed nobber been last neet - an' its varra nar twenty 'ear sen, noo - lal Mary Jackson sent ther sarvant lad, Tommy Wilson (a chap'at was oalas consider't rayder leet, but neah connekshun o' mine, mind)ta tell meh 'ah were wantit ower 't way efter nine o'clock. Whoa wents meh? - ses Ah Ooar Mary, sez he Varra weel, Tommy, Ah sed, Ahll be theear just noo. Am away Tommy went santerin off, like as if he'd just mendit oot ov a lang illness, an as if his clogs hed been shod wish cuddy cawkers."
""I mind as well as it had been nothing but last night - and it's very nearly twenty years since, now - little Mary Jackson sent their servant lad Tommy Wilson (a chap that was always considered rather light, but no connection of mine, mind) to tell me I wanted over the way after nine o'clock. 'Who wants me?' say I 'Our Mary' says he 'Very well, Tommy, I said 'I'll be there just the now' And away went Tommy sauntering off, like as if he'd just mended out of a long illness, and as if his clogs had been shod with donkey shoes.""
Personally I much prefer my earlier version, but literal he wanted and literal he gets. I always aim to please! Leslie

But here goes: Oh, yes, now you did it right. I can see that my former version of translation was better but I started improving it and .... hahahahaha Personally, I much prefer the literal translation. The politically correct polished one is simply boring, such royal English we have every day.... We want some English folklore, don`t you get it??? Thanks a lot for your fatigue, anyway. You carried out the Mission Impossibe!!! hahahahahahaha
