Since this is a Folder about Philosophy, art and culture I am interested in what the visitors find about art in general, and abou the topics. I know that a poll is limited, and that you can ask many questions, I limited myself to these.
I am curious what you may choose or not choose, what your opinion is. Pieter

I had a hard time deciding which category to choose (finally chose art is a part of culture..)
I like traditional and contemporary art, I visit museums occasionally, and I would say that art is my avocation, not my primary focus, although photography and digital art are becoming large parts of what I do and who I am.

"I like both contemporary and traditional art" - was my choice in the poll. I could also pick an option that art is a part of culture - I think it is - but I didn't like the comparison there to Science and economy. I guess I would like Art to be innocent, fair, good and serving to humanity and if it is not all those things then it is not Art in my opinion (I do not consider it art). I keep the bar high to call something "art"

Making this Poll I am limited by my personal experiance and ideas about art, and living in and with art and artists. You are a cultural person and uses "Implemented" or "Utilized" art, because you uses photography and digital art pragmatically. Am I right?

I keep the bar high to call something "art" I liked your answer and aggree with your disaproval of the comparisson of art to Science and economy. In making the poll I looked at art from differant angles. From the artists themselfs, from artcritics and arthistorians, and from artfoundations, institutions and the cultural department of the government. Art dealers and companies who buy and so invest in art hope that art has an economical value. Artists themselves only look at the subject they are involved with, to the form, content, composition, material and so technical aspects of a piece of art they have to produce. Unfortunately Art isn't innocent, fair, good and always serving to humanity. An artist looks at the spirit of the times, wheather he is socially or ehtically engaged, he looks at his roots in art (most artist have an example in art history they see as an starting point), the bright light, the construction (anatomy) of something he draws, paints, sculpt or photographs/films. "Good will is everything in morality, but in art nothing. There counts only the skill." Arthur Schopenhauer I chose the first option! Pieter

Pieter
As a person, I choose traditional/contemporary art. Because that is my interest. In my mind, each piece, rather it be painting, prose, fable or literary writing, must stand on it's own merit.
An art critic, I am not, I just recognize what is good art/fine art/ outstanding art. Not kind, or gentle in thought or voice, art must stand on it's own merit.
an artist or I should say, a creator, will have their good days, then some very rotten days and their art stinks. Just because the signature is of one or another artist, will not in my mind, constitute a written guarantee that all their works will be of quality. But, of course, it is to the sight of the beholder as to what is good.
I mean not to demeanor your style dear friend Pieter, but, I must speak my mind. For as a person, I am still one of the barbarous tribes to your East, just living in modern times is all. But, I like you.,
With my photo as an avator, say thank you to Jaga, she made it happen. My frustration and temperment become just too much for me, I ask her for help in making that happen, and she did!
Charles

Thanks for your contribution Charles, as you probably can read I am not an art critic or art historian myself, I only create paintings and pictures every now and then, and am involved in discussions between artists in their studio or in the pub here in Arnhem. From the other hand I am entering the literary world of poetry via a friend who is active here as well, Estelle. An art critic or art historian has had a theoretical university study, and a PhD in a written essay on a contemporary or ancient artist, school or movement. I have only been involved in the action, the practice of creation, and so am not a art-theorist. Nice photo Charles, you look like a writer or our late Prince Bernhard of Orange in his younger years, who died in 2004. A beloved war hero and German who married a Duch princes in the thirtees. www2.rnw.nl/rnw/en/currentaffairs/region/netherlands/dut041112bPieter
