Well folks, My four turkeys, 3 hens and a tom, have gotten a family pardon. They all want them to live long enough to reproduce. I wanted them to live long enough to fill my oven. You can see who won. However, I was smart enough to buy 3 turkeys at the local supermarket at $.49 a lb. So, we are having a gobbler after all. Roast turkey with New England Cranberry stuffing, mashed potatoes with serious gravy, green bean salad, pearl onions in milk and butter, buttercup squash, baby peas, buttermilk biscuits and champagne are on the menu. See you all after my nap this PM.

By all accords, the store purchased turkeys will tast much better and the family will feel better and perhaps to provide some treats to the family turkeys out side.... Karl

Glad to hear about your Thanksgiving dinner. When my relatives had chickens, we never ate them.....just got eggs from them

They just eat more and mess more. I'll take some photos of our coop and chicken layout. We will eat the chickens when they stop laying eggs. You can tell an old hen by the eggs she lays.

John, thanks. My relatives had chickens but not turkeys. In the past many people kept chickens.
