Please consider this as a companion to Pieter's very fine Lancaster presentation. The meaning of this presentation is for only information, as a person, I do not hold this to be as political or against any in manner what so ever. It is of an air weapon machine of my country in the last war. The purpose of it as properly deployed, is to be used as an air weapon for the Blitzkrieg in conjunction with ground operations. The machine was never designed to be used as a fighter, for each component design was for a specific purpose. The machine was used operationally in most campaigns of the war with great success. The following url is a computer simulation as a pilot of a Ju-87 in a practice flight. It will demonstrate the various instrumentation and controls as if you are the pilot. Noten: if to throw up, please use your pocket, for this will be most appreciated by the following pilot in use. Operational use of Ju-87 as correctly demonstrated: Please to note: The machine is instrumented with automatic altitude bomb release signal, in conjction with automatic dive pull out assist. The following url is excellent description of design and features of this machine. ww2db.com/aircraft_spec.php?aircraft_model_id=7Karl

Pieter Thank you for your fine addition to this presentation. It needs be addressed to others that the intent of this presentation is not to glorify our former military and the weapons developed in that time. But to in this stead, to demonstrate the machines as used... I was to notice in background of the url depicting use of the 88 mm flak gun. The vehicle shown is a Hanomag: SdKfz-251. I know these vehicles and of their manufacture, perhaps a bit too much... These vehicles were very well designed by Hanomag as the Schützenpanzerwagen. An armoured personnel carrier with open top and entry/exit through the rear split doors. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sd.Kfz._251It is not described, but this vehicle was powered by a 100 horse Hanomag motor with power delivered to the transmission to the close in differential with axles delivering power to the drive sprockets, powering both tracts. Each side rear tract joint, rode on roller bearings requiring individual grease lubrication {I think,,every 100 Km} with the right track slightly longer in length the the left track. To assist in turning, there was/is differential assist of the rear tracks with the front wheels, this was built into the machine with out assist of the operator. These vehicles were very robust and when closed down for combat operation, the motor was not prone to overheating. Whilst operated as a gun tractor, it was not uncommon to raise the side motor covers for additional cooling. For as war time needs of these machines progressed commensurate with the war needs. To assist Hanomag with production numbers, side contractors were consigned for production of the chassis to some to then ship completed chassis to facilities to complete the received bare chassis with hulls and appropriate fittings. For all manufacturers were assigned in the first, a numerical code number for all products. Later as the war progressed, this was changed to a lettering code. These code books were kept for easy reference for replacements of all parts and equipment, for all in self, were imprinted with the manufactures code. Karl
