Karl,
Again, an exellent reply and you are right to a certain point ofcourse. That you was laughing with me about my personal requirements of camera performance is logical. Because my irritation with myself and lack of experiance with that new camera was indeed very laughable. I have a sublte and mellow kind of selfmockery to survive in this job, and that is to amuse myself about myself, looking back at my own mistakes and irritations. This camera was a newer model of an old HD Panasonic camera with a lot of tools. Before this I was a photographer, and I have to learn myself to think in moving images and in TV camera work, which is different than photocamera work. I often switch between the digital display and the old fashionate videocamera Viewfinder. I look at the digital display for the color and at the viewfinder for sharpness and composition.
Karl, I use filters on the tv/viceocamera a lot for compensation in as of also for effects. Digital video camera digital processed filters are different than our old SLR- colorfilters of the good old analogue years. They have a slightly different approach.
I used filters and the iris and always work manualy in staid of autmotic, because I liketo use my own presets and settings.
This is the camera I work with
In tv camerawork sharpness and the brightness of the image is nearly more important than the colors, because in my environment with a lot of rain and often grey weather, you have to get the light right. Often I have to use lights I have brought with me, to put on the camera.

Karl, you are right that at time we have to make use of what works. I don't like to work with the automatic function, but sometimes at press conferences or when very quick camera action is required I do use the automatic film function. I dislike it, but do use it every now and then.
Because I have become faster in manual working, I sometimes can use my manual handled camera in fast situations. But at chaotic or extreme speed situations I use automatic. For instance when you have to compete for space with other cameramen or have to run from one place to another to be in time. Then I leave my tripot to my colleage and film from my shoulder, hoping for a steady shot. We often do interviews and covershots from tripots to get steady shots.

Karl, I love cultural, historical, city architecture, press conference related, sport events and crowded halls or celebrations to film, because you then can get good interviews (if you have a good interviewer with you. I am not a camio. I film people talking and environments these people are in. The subject and the interviewer) The illustrative camera work in detail my have to do with my background as drawer, painter and photographer and Desk Top Publisher in the past. I like to take time to film something good, and that is why I often like working in a team with a presenter/interviewer who takes time for a subject. (So that you can make a beautiful and interesting newsitem.)
I don't know much about the Beechcraft as a machine, but it was sure nice to film the plane. The Museum was nice to film anyway. It is photogenetic a good film subject.
Not only the British and the Russians are digging up your used up crashed machines for restoration and display, also Americans are interested in German war materials, from Luger officer pistols, to rifles, machine guns, Nazi porcelain, Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS uniforms, German tanks, artillery, planes and etc. You have some crazy war enthousiasts all over the West. I even heard some guys say the German uniforms were nicer then the allied. They were more tight, strict, they like the dangerous look or the shock effect of the Nazi militairy uniforms. Look at some of the most bizar and crazy stars of the pop history. Some of them walked dressed in SS-unfiroms to shock people. Sid Vicious the British Punk rock star from the Sex Pistols walked around in a Nazi t-shirt together with his crazy American jewish groupie grilfriend Nancy Spungen.
So for me this interest of Non-Germans and Non-Austrians for Nazi uniforms and weapons is no mystery. I don't think the German uniforms, machines of war, and weapons are useless, because they have an historical and technological value as examples of great mechanical and technological achievements of their time. They were used for the wrong reason in my opion, but they were superior for years over the allied weapons. Due to the stupidity (thank god) of Führer
Adolf Hitler and the high command of the Wehrmacht (Hitlers nodding donkey's) the Nazi's lost the war, not thank to their superior weapons. Because we simply have to admid that they were superior.
Cheers,
Pieter
