What a delicious meal to enjoy! You are so fortunant to have such a cousin! Riesling is a good wine with out question. Is the Muscat wine available in your area? It is at first a bit different and to some not so good. I enjoy it for it has a musk smell and tast but it is a semi sweet wine. To some, is perferable of a semi dry wine..
Your cousin, her name is Hapgood? Would by chance she to be related to the long past Englander foot ball player? That is an unusal sur name of long past old German.. Or perhaps I am only surmising in dreaming..

Her father was a Lang. Both names have origins in Germany though the Lang side came from England and moved here to New Hampshire in 1660. Hapgood is a evolution of the Hapsburg name and it is reported that all Hapgood people are related. They primarily settled the town of Harvard, MA. Here is an excerpt of the Hapgood genealogy: The first Shadrach Hapgood lived with his uncle, Peter Noyes of Sudbury, during his minority and married Elizabeth Treadway on Oct. 21, 1664, and was slain by the Indians in the surprise of Captains Hutchinson and Wheeler at Brookfield, August 2, 1675. The eldest of the five children, fruit of the marriage was Nathaniel Hapgood born 1665. He married Elizabeth Ward of Marl borough, August 14, 1695, became a deacon and a wealthy land-holder in Stow, and was long prominent in town councils. Nathaniel Hapgood was the father of the Harvard Shadrach Hapgood and transferred to him in 1725 all his lands upon Pin Hill Brook and Bare Hill, amounting to three hundred and fifty acres.

Thank you for returning with such interesting family history. My first thought was perhaps a connection to the family Hapsburg but was hesitant with out some conformation.. It appears you have married into a family of very historic importantance..

Yesterday evening, Saturday the 1st of February 2014, I had a nice dinner at the house with 6 people sitting at the table. Earlier in the day my wife and I were in town grocery shopping. She indicated that she wanted steaks for dinner. I thought about that and said how about a compromise? She would have wanted rib eye steaks and I decided on a rib eye roast. At Sam's club I had the butcher cut me a 6.25 lb roast. With 4 bottles of Menage a Trois wine we went home to prepare dinner for our guests. California Red Wine Review www.menageatroiswines.com/assets/images/bottle_red.pngVineyard and Winemaking Ménage à Trois red brings together three strange bedfellows: Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To add complexity and retain character, each variety was fermented separately, then blended together prior to bottling. On top we’ve got Zinfandel, a saucy tease that brings blackberry and raspberry jam to the relationship. Merlot, with its generous mouth feel and red fruits, fits perfectly in the middle. The rich flavors and firm tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon make it the ideal candidate for the bottom layer of the trio. Tasting NotesOur 2011 Ménage à Trois exposes the fresh, ripe, jam like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Forward, silky and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect accompaniment for grilled meats or roasts and chicken. Now that we have the liquid out of the way I proceeded to prep the roast. Encrusted the entire exterior with garlic, salt and pepper and placed it in a small roasting pan. With the oven at 350 o F it was cooked to 115 o F in 2.25 hours. Took the roast out , placed on a platter and covered with aluminum foil. Now while the roast is resting we mashed the potatoes with butter and whole milk, drained the cooking broccoli, made a mixed salad and set the table. Poured a glass of wine for all, carved the meat, served the potatoes and broccoli, salad and meat we then served the gravy. All was enjoyed to its most. For dessert we had lemon meringue pie. At the end we looked at each other and smiled that satisfied smile we all had. My friend mentioned he has been appointed to the board for Special Olympics of NH so therefore he has to take a polar plunge in the ocean today at noon. This is a fund raiser and I had a few recommendations for him. The dinner would sustain him for the plunge and he was thankful. After we all retired to the living room and watched the movie titled "The Butler". It was very good. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon and evening.

Do you enjoy to torture my self with such delicious decriptions of preporation of fine foods. Then, to display such lovely absolutly stunning meals, is just simply torture to an eater such as my self.. I have the duty this week end, 12 hours on, 12 hours restricted contact {to clean up, snatch a wink or two}. The nice ladies in the canteen have a heart and usually will hide some left overs on such occassions as this,,{it is good to know high people in low areas}..
The security people are born with out heart or soul, nothing that is not provided enters the building, and nothing with out required paper release, leaves the building past them.
These people are also very good shooters, so it is good not to irritate them.
