Today we went to SF Zoo. It was a lot of fun. This is one of the biggest Zoo we saw probably since San Diego. It had a Polish chicken. I did a picture of it. It even had the information that the name "Polis" is probably due to its characteristic red comb. It would match to the article about Polish chickens. culture.polishsite.us/articles/art452.htmlAnimals with Polish Names - Polish Chickens, Hogs, Dogs and Rabbits

We also saw an "Old Krakow" resturant, just when we drove the subway. I have a picture with it but we decided not to eat there since it was a bit pricy and I cook Polish food frequently at home.

Jaga, I have been to SF but never heard they had a subway. I have ridden on the Trolley cars but the subway is new to me. Where is it and can you tell me more about it. Curious.

Chris,
yes, there are at least 5 lines of the subway. I also did not use it the last time I was here. Since you were living in the wharf, this is why you did not use it. No any subway terminates in the North on the wharf. They go mainly East=West and also South. We took a subway today to the Ocean beach. It went all the way to the Western coast, along Judah street.
Parts of the time the subway trains are on the surface also,

Rode the S.F. subway 2 years ago. Did you use the kiosk? ( ATM ) to buy tickets? We also rode the bus (Interesting) We stayed at a bed and breakfast called Inn San Francisco. Think it was on Van Ness. Lots of Slavic accents on the wharf.

To all, The subway system in SF is called BART, which stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit. I believe it's construction began in the the early 1980's. I was last in SF in 1984/85 and I rode on the train.

I rode the BART (subway) system extensively in 1993 when I was in SF for 7 weeks running a project. Parking is sooooooo expensive; it was just easier to take the trains. I also use taxis a lot.
I stayed downtown, but took it to watch ballgames in Oakland, and out to Candlestick Park (old park).
SF is nice, but better on someone else’s nickel! It’s was quite expensive 15 years ago, I can’t even imagine what it is today!!!

Piwo,
thanks for coming back to us. How are you doing?
Yes, San Francisco is an expensive town but not all is expensive there. For instance, the public transportation system is pretty cheap there.
