We have had a long and thorough series of articles on the 1964 earthquake. Appropriately, major emergency organizations are practicing this week. There is no way we could be prepared for such an event. With an Anchorage population of over 300,000 people the hospitals are prepared for something under 7,000 people to treat. In our cry-baby society today I expect we would far, far exceed that, not even bothering to count the true casualties. I just learned a lot by watching this USGS (US Geological Survey) movie Out of those listed above, 3 of them in Alaska are included in the 10 biggest earthquakes recorded in the world. This is why we joined the rest of the western USA when they laughed at the puny Virginia earthquake in 2011.
