J.J.
Very commendable fall photos I must say, and very excellent prospective in photography.. Some of the photos as shown are so similar to upper BC and Alberta, but then could as similar, be in Quebec as well.
My self were to laugh a bit with your avatar reading of: Who Are These Devil Dogs? You do have an excellent sense of humour...

The pictures are beautiful, and the treat for the eyes is grand. I am burning out with so many internet sharings of enhanced photos. The fall time, the colors and the changes are magnificent. But these photos all have the gloss and vibrancy of enhancement, and it reminds me of when I burned out on Playboy playmate photos. Yes, they were magnificent, but compared to real women they looked like candied apples rather than real apples. Even as a kid I like candied apples in small amounts, but I love real apples on a regular basis, with their real colors, defects, and magnificent flavors, not masked by a layer of sugar.
I am down in Ohio currently and have been enjoying a magnificent fall. The North East corner of the state has much of the New England beauty with the changing colors and the covered bridges, and it is wonderful to find the colors as they change from day to day and surprise you as you turn a corner or reach a vista. The colors visible to they eye are much more vibrant than those captured by the camera, so there seems to be no comparison. Enhancement may be desirable, but it seems as if we have become dependent upon enhanced photos to "wow" the audience. Much of the art of photography has gone out the window and been replaced with automated color enhancing algorithms.
They are beautiful photos. John, are these from your local area, your own photos, or collections published locally?

Some are from Ottawa, Canada area and if locations are elsewhere I usually list it. I don't know if any are enhanced but I do not believe they are. The colors here in NH have been brilliant this year. Now they are getting a bit dismal as we approach fall mud season. They are predicting snow for us this weekend. Keep the faith and enjoy your explorations.

oK Jahn,
Truth is I was a bit harsh. The photos are beautiful, and it is great for you to share this special time in New England with the rest of the world.
When I see the luminescent quality of some of the photos, I can only think of photo enhancement. The house is one specific example. Such a photo could only be taken with special lighting, prohibitively expensive, or photo enhancement. I have been paying attention to such things from early on, when I was fascinated by the works of Margret Bourke-White.
I have used photo enhancement myself often enough, and it has rescued otherwise quite mediocre photos. I think particularly on some that inexplicably came out with a "blue wash" over them, like looking at a beautiful photo through dirty dish water. Sometimes photo programs clear up the dirty film overlay and reveal the naturally beautiful colors that were visible to the human eye. Sometimes they enhance to colors to produce that "luminescent" quality I mentioned. It is beautiful in its own right, but ... like looking at a candied apple through the film of candy.
So please do continue to post these photos!
Kai
PS. another way to express this "luminescent" quality of the photos would be to compare it to Mexican paintings in velvet they sell to tourists.
