Hello everyone! I'm an American woman whose great grandparents were from Poland. Though I was raised with many of the Polish traditions and beliefs, the language died out in my family well before I could learn very much of it. I've decided to make it my personal goal to bring the Polish back into my home and pass it down to future generations. I'm completely in love with all I've been learning, and hope to gain much knowledge from others here! Hopefully I will get to travel to the homeland someday!

Welcome to the forum. there are many here that can identify with your interest in being Polish. I myself am a second generation American of Polish descent and have learned much on this forum.

Celestemarie,
Welcome to the forum! I am the resident Slovak/Rusyn (I would be Polish if the family came from the north side of the river).
If you are just reconnecting with your Polish traditions and practices, you are doing what many of us Americans are doing. Please do not hesitate to bring up questions or make comments that are the most basic. That is the only way to get an answer. Most all of us who were born overseas (not in Poland) are in the same boat. The only difference is that we started asking questions earlier than you did, so it is likely we are in a position to answer your questions or point you in the right direction.
In my opinion we do not cover enough Polish topics in this Polish forum, so hopefully your participation and fresh commentary will inspire additional new folk to join in and liven up the place!
We all started out by asking questions, and in the last 20 years I have learned a great deal. I wish you the same fortune!
Kai
