Sounds delicious. I agree, the sausage could probably be replaced with kielbasa or any other kind of sausage for different flavors. You may find one that even improves on the original recipe!

Looking at the recipe .. if folowing the one on line. ....one thing an Italian would "never " be using is elbow macaroni in this recipe. It would have been ditalini. I make something jsut like this but without the macaroni. It is great...sort of a sub for what most here call Italian Wedding soup which is chicken soup with escarole and tiny meat balls. One of my fave.
