Some of our forum members have said that they buy excellent kielbasa from martinrosol.com. The kielbasa of my childhood (and I truly can not eat any other) was made in Chicopee, Mass. I just learned that they sell online, so ... I am going to order some. Happy Easter, here I come. www.bluesealkielbasa.com/products.htm#

Yes, Nancy, "Blue Seal" is among the best That is what we use to buy all the time when we could find it...now it is easier to buy. However.... if you, or any other Forum members, are ever out here in western MA and go north on Rt. 116 from the I-91 exit, there is a small Polish butcher shop on the left side of the road that sells nothing, but pork products. (And smoked chicken and turkey in the autumn when people are thinning their flocks.) Now, my husband thinks this is the best ;D

Nancy, Is Blue Seal just an online co. or do they have a store or sell to stores? I'd never heard of them before now.
GM, Thanks for the butcher shop tip! I love smoked turkey.

Suzanne,
Years ago my family bought this kielabsa at Falls Provision in Chicopee but I have no idea if that store is still around. I think that Blue Seal can be purchased in other shops, I believe they sell to restaurants etc.
I also saw this on their website:
Our Factory Store: 19 Sitarz Ave , Chicopee, Ma. Please call us for store hours. Toll-free 800-924-6328

Thanks, Nancy. I'll look them up if I'm ever in the area, otherwise it's nice to know they sell online. I'm ashamed to say I don't think I've ever actually had real kielbasa!!

If you want real good kielbasa you can contact Mark from mark@kielbasy.net <mark@kielbasy.net> in Pennsylvania... I don't think you will get better stuff elswhere.. You can share this link with miss JagaBella. George.

Suggestion: take a look at this link: www.lehmans.com/ or even call them. Lehman's, as you will see, deals with non-electrified goods, but also has a "partner site" which deals with electrified goods. I am not familiar with them. The other suggestion I can make is to search e-bay. I wanted a sieve attachment for my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer; called the company; no longer made; so have been checking into e-bay every-so-often. I wish my tale had a happy ending, but so far no luck Hope you fare better GM

Nancy... i had that kielbasa and im sorry, but it is nothing like the kielbasa i had in Poland. I am not surprised to hear that, George. When I tasted pierogie and borscht in Poland, I was astonished by the taste. My grandfather made kielbasa (and sold it) so my family was always very fussy about it - Blue Seal was the only brand we could purchase after he stopped making it. So we have to make do with substitutes until we can "go home"again.

Nancy,
I remember when we took a ride to Falls Provision in Chicopee. My younger days of course. If I remember correctly the kielbasa was favorably rated. On the par with the New Britain brand if not better.

Not sure what the sieve is. I too have a kitchen aid, and the problem is with me, the disk (spacer ?) as the material is pushed out has very small holes. This is not good because my sausage has the consistency of a hot dog! It's supposed to be course, but the holes are so small, it's entirely too "smooth". I have a drill press, and I figure I can open the holes up on this old, thick piece of metal (all the new disks are made of plastic), but still hope to find one on ebay.. Well, Easter is coming, and I better start shopping, or drilling!!!!!!!

John,
I use a 3/8" hole on my hand cranked sausage maker. Sounds like the one you have is good for blood sausage. Maybe you can find a piece of plastic and make a new spacer. Just a thought.

Jim I was thinking along those lines Jim, and actually the new kitchen aid attachments are plastic, and they have a nice one for sausage. I'm just concerned that the shaft of the metal "grinder", or auger, will rub inside the plastic hole and cause plastic shavings. Not sure if that would happen, but it's the only reason I haven't tried it. I do have a drill press, and am considering just opening up some of the holes big time. I think the disk I have is more for pasta......
